Celebrity never provided a final bill for charges onboard the Infinity. After asking for six weeks, they have ignored all requests for this information. Even our travel agent has been unable to get a reply. Of course the bill appears to be padded. Any similar experiences out there?
I assume from what you say that a charge appeared on your credit card. If so, I'd dispute it, explaining to the credit card company what happened. That way, they'll get on Celebrity's case, which may swing a little more weight.
Never, ever, never leave that ship without a copy of the bill. No matter what the cruise line. You should have also checked on the TV screen the last night to make sure everything looked correct so that your not down in customer relations at the last minute trying to resolve a dispute.
I remember one time my evil twin had charged about 800.00 in Casino cash advances to my account. I didnt even know he was on the ship. I was so gald I checked my account on the the Television around day 6 of 10 and found out about those charges. I finally found him out by the pool with a foo foo drink in one hand and my Cruise Card in the other!
Of course! Maybe my years in law enforcement cause me to be skeptical but the poster enters into this unfounded tyrade with the two words that tip off his predisposition.
The cruise lines do make mistakes which is exactly why they ask you to review your account PRIOR to leaving the ship. Having failed to do this, you now seem upset that they aren't jumping up and down to rectify your mistake. SHEEESH!
Thanks Robbie for posting your indictment of me without knowing the whole story. In my original posting, I was trying to be brief, but let me provide a few additional details.
I did review the preliminary bill for correctness. The problem came up between then and what was submitted to my credit card company as the final bill. I save my receipts and they do not account for the difference.
All passengers were promised a final bill before disembarkation. Apparently, no one got one. We contacted friends we made on board and none received a final bill. Each one claims there is an unaccountable difference between the preliminary bill and what was charged to their credit card. This seems more than a coincidence.
Like us, most passengers tried getting their final bill before leaving the ship, but were told they were not available yet. We had a choice to stay on board, miss our airport connection or disembark. I think nearly everybody left the ship thinking the final bill would be provided by email or in the mail.
Not only did we receive nothing from Celebrity, but also our followup requests for a final bill have been totally ignored.
We booked this cruise through a big on-line agency that does 400 cruises a month. I know the COO and asked him for help in getting Celebrity to respond. His clout has yet to produce even an acknowledgement that they are working on it.
All this may be explainable if we ever get an answer. One thing for sure is that it has tarnished the image of Celebrity in my eyes and those of a few passengers we enjoyed meeting on the cruise.
You are experiencing something I have never heard of. Celebrity provides you with a written copy of the bill during the evening of your last night. I have never, in six Celebrity cruises , not gotten that copy. You can also get one at any time during the cruise. In addition, up until midnight on the last night, you can review your bill at any time during the cruise on the interactive TV system.
If you were not provided with a copy of your bill (hard to believe) and you did not review your bill online and it was important to you, why did you walk off the ship without going down to the pursers desk (open 24/7) and getting one???
Ok I read your replies above.
So, dispute , in writing, the entire charge to your credit card with the explanation that the final charge does not agree to your total receipts (how about tips, are they on your bill???). Celebrity will have to provide an answer or will lose the entire amount.
I have been on 4 Celebrity Cruises and never had this happen. Its is just inconceivable to me that Celebrity would allow something like this to happen and absolutely unbelievable that they would not follow up immediately by sending bills out. Im sorry but this is just one of those posts where I think there is much more to the story that is being left out. Or there is some sort of embelishment of the facts. Thats the nicest way I know how to put it.
I posted to this site (my first time) to see if others had experiences similar to mine on Celebrity. What a mistake that was!
Now accusations are flying around about me leaving out details and people are telling me I shouldn't have left the ship without the bill. There is even a self-appointed internet cop who sent my thread to the Celebrity web site. Oh boy, that should really help! Where does he think I started trying to resolve this mess more than 6 weeks ago? That's all I wanted to know is if others have had difficulty with their final bill on Celebrity. Your answers tell me there is not. Good. The rest of the crap, I don't need.
Like many of you, I have never had a billing problem before with a cruise line and have never disputed a cabin bill. I have been on Crystal, Radisson, Princess, Carnival and a few others. Each time my bill was 100% accurate. My frustration level rises exponentially when I get absolutely no response to my legitimate requests for a final bill. Just re-print it and send it to me. If there is a valid reason for the difference between the preliminary bill and the final bill, I'll pay it.
I have invested way too much time trying to get what should have been provided on board. Although the Celebrity cruise experience on board was delightful, it is certainly not worth the grief this has caused post cruise. There are two things I won't be doing again...sailing on Celebrity and posting to this site.
Although your circumstancs are unusual, I'm certain they do in fact exist as stated. I will emphasize once more how you can resolve your issue.
Dispute your credit card charge IN WRITING. State as the basis the fact that your detail receipts do not equal the amount of your final bill. Your credit card company will put your charge amount on hold and put in an inquiry to Celebrity which must be answered in detail showing full support for the charge. Should Celebrity somehow manage to support their charge, the difference will be submitted to you to review and refute.
Don't give up on your efforts to resolve your problem elsewhere as well (ie through Celebrity and TA) but the credit card dispute is your strongest hand to play.
We were on the Millie, departing in Venice on May 27. I had to stand in line that morning as did many others because there were no bills given to the staterooms. We were traveling with an internet group and there were others in addition to us who did not get their bills. Fortunately the bill that showed up there is the same as the one that was on our AMEX bill when I checked online.
We were in the internet group with Marytutor and also did not receive a bill under the door on the last night as per past Celebrity cruises.
Also noticed that it took many, many days (like perhaps a week) for the in-room TV billing menu to be accessible. On past cruises, it has taken a couple of days for us to be able to access our account on line - but for some reason on this cruise it was extremely difficult to monitor our on-board account...when it was finally available "in-room", it might be available for viewing for a couple of days - then unavailable for a day or so. Could have been that the ship was transitioning from the US/Carib. to Europe for the summer and the bugs hadn't been worked out yet. In any case, I was able to check our account at the end and it agrees with the credit card on-line statement.
No problems here.....except that the cruise is over - and we're home.
Sorry this this thread turned sour. We are regular posters here, increasingly frequent cruisers--mostly celeb. AND .we are not VIPs.. But there are billing snafus that crop up...had issues with coupons not being credited when we arrived once--have to call several times to make sure it was done..also small billing issues for drinks with no receipts & on the last day esp it's best not to charge alot as the charges may not make the bill. Last time we had free internet minutes left & used them to get our boarding passes. The charge made the bill but not the credit. We were told it would catch up & be adjusted to our credit card final charge. Never happened...This was de minimus considering the cost of the trip so we never followed up. Next time we'll use our inutes & charge the last night boarding pass printing. Anyhow--even with diligence errors can occur--the worst part is that you can't always talk to the same person again due to schedules so you must repeat & repeat....stand online etc. it can be annoying but not a reason not to cruise again!
