We were last on the Mercury in September 2005 & will sail her again in April 2007. She is a fine ship, in fact, along with the Constellation, Mercury is one of my favorites.
Compared to the Constellation, she is an older ship. She is in need of some refurbishment, but nothing too severe. Quality of food & service is comparable. Connie is a larger ship & I believe it has more cabins with balconies. Another feature of the Connie that I enjoyed which Mercury does not have, is the specialty restaurant. All in all, Mercury is a wonderful ship & I am sure you will enjoy your cruise.
Granted, Mercury is not as large or as new as the Millie class ships, but her crew and staff consistantly deliver an excellent cruise year after year.
We have always felt the staff on Mercury is the best of the Celebrity fleet.
Staff attitude and crew always seems to be excellent when we sail the Merc.
We are not speciality restaurant people so thats not an issue for us at all.
The Mercury is an older smaller ship in need of some TLC, BUT the ship is very clean...and the staff, crew were wonderful...and that adds a lot to the whole cruise experience. BTW: The food was excellent too.
You will find her staff, food and service up to the high standard set by Celebrity. Yes, she is a little older but for her age - she is in great shape. I prefer her to some of the newer ships we have sailed on including the Voyager of the Seas and Zuiderdam.
