Default How to get first dining seating ?

I have 8:00pm dining on the Millinium going to
Alaska on MAY 29,09.
I don't want to pay extra to upgrade to CC to get the first seating.
I'm going to book the alternative and speciality for a couple nights,
maybe one formal 8:00 night and pasta bar another. So.
obviously I've tried to work out a plan to not eat at 8:00
every night. Some nights that 8:00 might mean we can have
longer sightseeing, so its not all bad. Again, my preference
is to eat earlier. Any suggestions that have worked on
getting the first seating?

If you are on the wait list for early dining, then around final payment time, you have a good chance of getting it changed..

If you haven't had it changed by boarding time, at boarding go to the Maitre'd and ask to be changed. Be prepared to wait in line for changing. Have a representative of any other party booking number with you if they are changing also. Tell them you have GERDS and can't eat late.

If you are not changed to early seating by cruise time, I would take Joe's suggestion and head right for the Maitre'D as soon as you board. Often times the Maitre'D will be able to accommodate your request.

Enjoy your cruise.

I actually prefer second seating because it gives me time to get a shower, etc., after returning to the ship during a port of call, but YMMV.

But first seating seems to be VERY popular among Celebrity's passengers. Alas, it's on a "first come, first served" basis so one often has to book VERY early in the booking cycle to get it.

Which suits me just fine....

Norm.

You should have told your TA or whoever you booked with about your dining preference. Do it ASAP. You may have to be waitlisted, but chances are you will get it. I'm surprised your booking agent didn't ask that to begin with.
Sometimes there is a snafu even if you are set for your preference. Last month on Galaxy we were supposed to be linked with another couple for the same table at main seating. Imagine my horror when I saw the card said LATE seating.
I went to the M'D that afternoon and asked to be put back to Main. We didn't get linked with the other couple, but did eat at 6 with 6 other very nice people.

I have found that if you book early for your cruise, there is a better chance of getting first seating. Most families with children, or elderly people tend to prefer the first seating. Another way to get first seating is if you have a pre-existing medical condition. Any time that we have been closed out of first seating, Rob always asks our primary care doctor to fax a note directly to the cruiseline. We have found that this note works like a champ. Most cruiselines will accomodate passangers to their dining preference, but, I also say that, "the early bird catches the worm".
