Default Reduced Deposit Sales?

Hi there, we'd like to book a Celebrity cruise for Spring 2011 but quite honestly don't want Celebrity holding $900 US for 22 months. With Princess different TAs hold reduced deposit sales a couple of times a year and usually every 3 months or so one of the biggies is offering it. Does Celebrity do the same? Can TAs run their own deposit specials? I keep checking all the well known one's just not sure if I should be looking elsewhere.

Tx

If a TA did this on their own that means they are floating you the difference. It also means you have not paid the cruise line directly, but the TA did so on your behalf. If the TA would "disappear" so would your deposit.

Really? I'm surprised. Princess allows their agents to hold their own special deposit sales about twice a year.

Hi Trackypup:

Yes, =X= does offer reduced deposit sales. I recently booked an Alaskan cruise for my inlaws; I went through them directly (Certified Vacation Planner). The deposit was 1/2 off.

They do offer these specials once in awhile, though not as often as Princess. Just have to sign up for their e-mail specials, join the Captains Club and you should get pinged whenever they offer it.

Triton offers good advice, I have been taking advantage of their E-mails myself.

Default Save on Deposits

I felt the same way. I didn't want to tie up $900 so what I did is I reserved the cruise in my name only that way it was only $450- one person. When I could, I added my husband which dropped the price of the trip substantially for my portion as they charge you more to go alone than with 2 in the cabin. The reservation agent told me that they might cancel the reservation if I didn't pay the $450 for my husband within 24 hours, but they didn't. I got us both added for the $450 and kept it that way for about 6 weeks until I had to pay for it in full. No issues. I'm going to always do that so I don't have to lock up more money than necessary. Remember.. your only concern is reserving the room..

Happy Sailings!
