Default VOTE FOR BEST CRUISE DIRECTOR

I'm stealing this idea from Michael....but I would love to know everyone's favorite CD.......mine is Jim Cannon with Celebrity. We sailed with him on Mercury and then recently on Millennium. He is a wonderful "people person" and really goes out of his way to make your trip very special. IMHO, Jim Cannon, should be voted CD of the year.
I hope to have the pleasure of his company again on Summit.

My vote is for David Graham who used to be with Celebrity. He was our cruise director on the Horizon in 1998. Terrific personality and very friendly. I believe he is now with Renaissance. A close second would be Jim Cannon.

I have a Tie 1. Keith Kox was CD on my First voyage on the Regal Princess April 1994. He was funny and I swear he loved his voice...He was on the intercom quite a bit. 2. John Lawrence ....He was on the Sun Princees May 16 1996. He was so charming and FUNNY (At Pub Night) really made the cruise great!!

I liked Cory Schmidt on Carnival's Victory best. Very friendly personable young man. Hysterically funny and a great entertainer.

I have to agree with Mary Lou, Jim Cannon gets my vote. He is friendly, visible and helpful. Haven't found all those qualities in any other CD I've met.

Just returned from my first cruise,(Jan.14-21st) aboard RCCL's Rhapsody of the Seas,to Mexico. As it turned out,it was also a "first cruise" for our CD, Marc Walker, a delightful British young man. This news wasn't revealed til the last night of the cruise. Of course I was surprised, as I assumed Marc had held this position a long time, judging by his confident air. Hopfully, we'll see his name mentioned more often in this newsgroup. He is a natural emcee, game show host and comedian.

We had Tim Donovan on our last cruise, on the Star Princess. As soon as he opened his mouth I remembered his voice. Upon further research (I was looking for something) I discovered that he was the Senior Ass't Cruise Director on our first cruise-the Sun Princess-in 1998! Kevin Cox was the Cruise Director. I enjoyed them both-but was overall impressed with my first cruise in general. They were fine with me.

I think I better say Mark Price on Carnival Glory. He was lots of fun. He also was very good to Patty giving her a medal of the ship and a "ship on a stick" Two things she treasures from her cruise.

Well, I am doing something wrong as I do not know the name of a single Cruise Director and never paid any attention to any of them.
I have found them inconsequential to our cruises.

Regards,
Ben

Dottie Kulasa, formerly with NCL for many years and now with HAL. She's fabulous! Funny, smart, visible, pretty, talented and perfect for her job.

Shane Stewart, Now retired was IMO the best we have cruised with. He was CD on the Original Pacific Princess on our cruise from Bombay, India back to the US in 1992-3. He was a wonderful person, knowledgable, Intertaining and a good manager.

Jamie Logan on Seven Seas Voyager. The energy that he and his wife bring to a cruise is invigorating. I actually like Barry Hopkins of the Sevens Seas Mariner more, I think Barry runs a more enjoyable cruise.

Gordon Whatman, no contest. The guy is amazing. I think he's retired now but his website is great. www.gordonwhatman.com

Now, how about the worst cruise director. My pick is Paul O'Laughlan with Princess. Definitely should find a different job.

Graham Seymour on Princess. (Think he's moved on to another line now) Second, or maybe a tie with John Heald on Carnival.

JennC: Agree about Paul O'Laughlin. I have friends who work for Princess and they all despise him. I cruised twice when he was CD and he's arrogant, cocky and, yes, should find another line of work.

Gordon Whatman was still working for Royal Caribbean this past May...I do not believe he has retired.

I am with Ben on this one, Can't remember the name, I remember some guy blabbering way to long and to much over a hairey chest contest, something I find ( this is personal taste) rather silly, our director certainly didnt leave enough of an impression for me to remember his name, but maybe we are not into that kind of thing...........
