Is it possible to purchase your cruise from the Cruise line on the day that you would embark on the Cruise. I am assuming that all ships do not sail with all of their state rooms fully booked, and that a greatly reduced fare could be booked at that late date. Thank you in advance for all responces. Richard
I don't know if they let you book the day of sailing anymore (since 9/11) because they check the passenger lists compared to the "bad people" list with the FBI. I know you used to be able to buy cruises the day of. I think that you would be the best rate available if you buy within 3 weeks of sailing. After that point most people are unable to plan a vacation. I have seen some great deals $399 for a 8 day cruise on a last minute cruise deals e-mail I get. I just get it to drool over the deals because I am one of those people who doesn't have the flexibility to travel on short notice.
I believe now they aren't allowed to add passengers to the manifest within 48 hours of sailing. Though I think they can for passengers already on the ship.
