Saw Merm's daughters wonderful picture of Bora Bora... but realizing the majority of cruisers head to the Caribbean, thought I would ask.... What is your FAVORITE Caribbean island, and what do you like to do there, when you get a chance to visit??
Mark and I really enjoyed St. Thomas. It was just beautiful. We liked just driving around the island and gazing at the gorgeous scenery. The other thing we liked to do there was buy cheap duty-free liquor at K-Mart.
Although, I also really loved Puerto Rico. It was charming, and I felt at home there. If I had the chance, I would move there in a second. Definitely lived up to its name as "la isla del encanto."
Of course, we still have a lot of islands left on the list to see before we make a final decision.
Now posting as MichelleP.
Michelle, I did follow the link and I must say I can not believe this ship is going to my favorite spot! Caicos..... have you ever cruised with this cruise line? I did request a catalog and also looked at the prices. They are very inexpensive and worth a second look! I do wonder if they have a lot of pools and a kids program.....
June 1st 2015--- Denali Explorer Cruise on Star Princess!
I do like Aruba but recently discovered a piece of heaven that most cruisers do not get to see ,Virgin Gorda in the BVI's (as amatter of fact, all the BVI's). Fabulous beaches
with none of the crowds, unbelievable snorkelling and diving, friendly people, safe , gorgeous scenery, great small laid back resorts, Carib beer, and at Mad Dogs ,above the Baths, the best pina collada in the world for $4.00 , great beach bars and restaurants and a laid back relaxed crowd by day that party, if you want it ,by night.
The captain of our Windjammer described Little Dix Bay (a resort on Virgin Gorda) as "heaven on earth if it exists anywhere " and I think he might have been right.
Location: Wisconsin....about 100 miles south of the Frozen Tundra and 70 miles east of Camp Randall
Re: POLL- Your FAVORITE Caribb island?
I may be in the big minority here, but I absolutely loved Martinique....once out of Fort de France, the island is absolutely beautiful! Did a jeep safari tour that went up through the banana plantations, up into the rain forest and down to St. Pierre and one of the rum factorys and got to view Mt. Pelee.
Carnival Breeze with Ray B and Aerogirl 5/4/14!
Only been to one Island (Jamaica) so I can't form
an opinion yet, sorry. I should have at least 1 (out of 5)
after upcoming cruise. But, from what I've read above
there are some Islands that I must visit.
