Default RE: Bringing alcohol onboard Carnival Victory in Miami?

Has anybody had experience with carrying on your own booze onto ships lately in Miami? We are hosting a large group on May 4 on the Victory and want to bring a couple of bottles for our suite - any feedback appreciated!

We went out of Port Everglades last month and no problem bringing on 5 (was 6, one broke) bottles of champagne. The carry on bag went through two xrays.

Its hit or miss The cruise lines have strict published polices as to what you can and cannot bring. It all depends upon whom is working security the day you try to bring it on. The safest way to "smuggle" liquor aboard is in your checked luggage. Buy your booze at your port of departure, wrap it in bubble wrap, put it inside a ziploc bag and hope it doesn't break, or you could put it into plastic bottles and pack it in your checked luggage

Brought rum onboard in a plastic Coke bottle, packed securely in checked luggage. No problems.

We looked all over for a liqour store in Miami before our cruise on the Paradise. There wasn't anything close to our hotel that sold hard liqour on Sundays. So if you plan to get it in Miami make sure you get it on Saturday or make sure you know where you are going on Sunday to get it.
Our friends had a bunch of those little single serve bottles and put them into little ziplock bags and then put them in their shoes in their checked luggage.

Linn: Cruised on the Triumph Apr. 5th. As Carnival policy states something to the effect of "wine is permitted to be brought on board if you are celebrating a special occasion", we filled two empty wine bottles with good Canadian Whisky and recorked them, and put on "heat shrink" caps. They looked just like unopened bottles of wine. These went on board in our checked luggage (in a padded, waterproof cooler bag which we subsequently used on excursions). I don't know if this was overkill, but it certainly worked for us. The Triumph seemed to be more concerned with bringing booze back on board (from ports) earlier in the week. A bottle purchased on Monday was held on re-entry, one purchased on Thurs. was not. The held bottle came to our room on Thursday evening, two nights before debarkation. For all those folks concerned that bringing personal alcohol on board
will financially burden the cruise lines to the point of putting up prices, please note that my wife and I did our parts by putting at least $650.00 on our sign and sail card, and dropping about $300.00 in the Casino. We were also never intoxicated (feeling good, that's another thing).

Happy Sailing,
Tim
