Now that Seahunks is back, I thought I'd post links to his marvelous First Cruise story so that anyone who hasn't read it can see what all the fuss was about. Steve, I hope you don't mind me posting these links.
Thanks, Michelle. I was just about to post XVIII. I'm afraid I haven't had time to coallesce the notes for the rest of the story. So it might be a while before I post the next installation.
Have I ever told you what a rare and precious gem you are? I hope your parents and your fiance realize that. I'm sure all Cruisemates do.
And you folks who liked the story will love this. Chapter XII began and ended with a song that was quite popular on European jukeboxes when I travelled there over 30 years ago. The song had enjoyed some success in the U.S. during the 1960's, when I originally heard it.
There is a local radio station that plays a mixture of soft rock from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. I was listening to it as I filled out the online documentation at the RCCL website last Friday. Could there have been a better time for that station to play "Seemann, Deine Heimatt ist Das Meer?" And yet, it happened! I could not believe the timing.
Michelle, thanks so much for posting those links! I have just spent a very pleasurable time reading Seahunks story and can admit a few tears were spent. I was raised by my mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother so times were tough when I was growing up. My mother always promised to take me on a cruise for high school graduation. Unfortunately at that time it was not possible. 10 years ago doctors told my Mother she had 6 mo. to live. Little did we know of the adventures in life that waited for us together as we proved the doctors wrong.
In April of 2000 I was finally able to grant that wish to my mother as she and I also stood in awe of the Sensation! I so remember the feelings of my first glimpse of her reading this story. To this day I am still in awe of the ships. I found Cruisemates in Dec. of 2001 as I planned our 2nd cruise aboard the Pride. It was an extremely memorable trip for my mother and now, I wait in barely contained anticipation for our 3rd cruise. I feel very blessed for being able to give this to my mother and for all the memories we have been blessed with over the years. Thank you for remindng me of what is important in life!
Thank you Michelle for posting those. I have just spent my "after lunch computer time "reading. Seahunks, you are now my favorite author!! And Chris sounds like a girl after my own heart. I can't wait for the next chapter and then your next cruise. I was right there with you, almost had to take a Bonine! Our next cruise I will be thinking of you and your words. Thank you again
Thanks guys! Sure I'll marry ya Thomas which ship? You cruise so you don't have to be a saint, being on the ocean is about as close to heaven as this simple human can imagine! So much fun reading these message boards!
