Default Streamers and such.....

As we depart to dock, does the crew pass out streamers & noisemakers to the guest? You know, like they did on the Love Boat.....and will there really be thousands of people standing there waving goodbye to us?

No, there will not be thousands of people waving goodbye. No streamers or noisemakers. You may not even notice that you are departing unless you are by the rail at the scheduled time of departure. Don't let this get you down though, grab a cocktail and enjoy the moment. After all your on a cruise and I'm not. {{grin}}

When we left Tampa in February, there was a party in the Plaza next to the pier due to a Buffett concert sheduled for that evening. The parrotheads on shore whooped, hollered, and waved as Nordic Empress and Sensation set out. There were no streamers, though. Litter laws probably don't allow them anymore.

Steve is right I'm sure about the litter laws! Princess used to always do the streamer bit, pretty fun, but messy! Sailaway to the Caribbean is just kind of routine!

not for the average sailaway, but if you book over New Years, be prepared for a wild party onboard, noisemakers, hats, champagne, the works!

SS, thanks for the bubble suggestion! In my large family we exchange cheap goofy Christmas presents. Several of my relatives will be cruising with me in March. I think I'll give them all lollipos and bubbles for sail-away! Each "kit" will be accompanied by a handmade card, "Do not open until 4PM March 7, in Tampa." Lollipops (as in "Good Ship") and bubbles. Great inspiration!

Princess passes out streamers on "island night" ... lots of fun but what a mess for the crew to clean up.

If you sail out of Ft. Lauderdale, you will get quite the send-off from the condo's on shore as you leave the channel, they have banners, airhorns, they flick their lights on and off etc. Its kind of neat.

try to keep an eye on the time when you are on the boat day of departure, any boats in the water will holler and honk while they go by, interesting to watch, if you wave they will wave back. relax and enjoy!
