Directions to Boston Port
I've been looking at several websites that give driving directions, and there are two suggested exits off the Mass. turnpike (I 90) to the cruise port in Boston. I was wondering if any locals (or anyone who has driven to the port) could tell me the less confusing exit. Half of the sites say to take exit 24 and the others say to take exit 25.

Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the subject for this dim bulb? <G>

Eddie, when are you cruising? I am asking this because if you are cruising during the Democratic National Convention starting 7/26/04 Boston is basically going to be shutdown to incoming traffic, they are closing parts of the highway and certain routes on the "T" (thats the train), they will be busing commuters in and out of the city during this time. Its going to be a traveling nightmare.

I'm not much on directions, but I would recommend against coming through Calgary. It's a long ways out of the way <VBG>

Re: Directions to Boston Port
If you don't live too far away, take a limo to take you there and pick you up again. It might cost a little bit more than the parking, but will save you the driving headache. Or, book a hotel room that is in the suburbs and see if they have a shuttle bus and could leave your car there while you are away.

Re: Directions to Boston Port
I'm coming in from upstate NY, through Albany on July 25th. I'll miss all of the traffic woes during the convention.

Parrot Mom, is the South Boston exit the last exit before the Ted Williams tunnel? (exit 25) It seems easier, so I can't figure out why some sites want you to get off the exit before.

Re: Directions to Boston Port
My husband says to follow the signs to South Boston and take a right. (it comes up quickly)..when you get's a little tricky...New construction has changed the area and even we get confused, but it's a fast right...right after you get off at the South Boston exit and then take a right--Do not go through the Ted Williams Tunnel.. Until they completely finish the Big Dig it's very confusing and chaos but worth will see the Marine Terminal..on the right....and you drive up, show the State Troopers your papers...then to the longshoremen who gratefully unload your luggage (compared to Miami) back to the parking garage a block or so away...When you come back if your a Lattitudes Member your allowed in right away..(that;s if you arrive about Noon).. The Trooper wants to see your lattitudes card.... There is a separate Lattitudes area..the problem seems to be everybody in this area is a Lattitudes Member...but processing once you sit down does go quickly and your papers are reviewed and an ID picture and financial papers taken right then and there so you don't have to do it in the casino. Now, if you end up at ask the nearest State I know it's really not funny, but it's so confusing...that even somebody like ourselves who have done this more than ten times now finds it's tricky. Your coming in from the Mass. Turnpike and just follow directions... Hope I've been some help...

Re: Directions to Boston Port
fasteddie, don't count on it. I would imagine that the traffic the day before the convention starts will be just as bad if not worse, locals trying to get outa the city you know. Plan extra, extra time trying to get to the port..
Stay to the right when you exit do not take the Logan Airport Exit.
