POLL: What would induce you to cruise a ship/line you normal
If there is a certain ship you've only heard bad things about, or a cruise line you didn't want to try, or a ship you've been on before but never want to cruise on again, what kind of deal would induce you to throw caution to the wind and book that ship or line?
Re: POLL: What would induce you to cruise a ship/line you no
Simple answer--the availability of time and money.
I may dwell on the land, but I live at sea!
Steve
Sensation 2/03 I disembarked, but never really left the ship.
Enchantment 9/03 Just had to go back.
Inspiration 3/04 Just have to go back again, and again, and again...
Sensation 04/05 The vessel made me do it!

All of the above answers.
If there is a certain ship you've only heard bad things about,-
Although I enjoy reading and search for reviews about ships I'm planning to sail on, I still like to form my own opinions, and would not let bad reviews keep me from booking a ship
Or a cruise line you didn't want to try,-
Doesn't apply, because I would like to try them ALL
Or a ship you've been on before but never want to cruise on again,-
I've cruise on the same ship before, and although that's not my favorite thing to do as I would prefer to experience more ships and lines, I would do it again to sail with friends or if the deal of a lifetime came about.
Re: POLL: What would induce you to cruise a ship/line you no
I’ve heard all these ugly roomers about the Titanic… Being that it is sitting on the bottom of the ocean, the deal would be, you bring it up… I’ll sail her.

FREE ALCOHOL! (Don't mean to shout). Honestly, I am not a heavy drinker but my husband and I just got back from our first cruise which we loved and spent nearly $400.00 just on drinks! (My kids did have the soda/smoothie card so we saved there).
Re: POLL: What would induce you to cruise a ship/line you no
There are a few ships I do not care if I ever get on them or not but all it would take to get me on them is for them to be going to the right location at the right price and with some people I truly want to cruise with and I am there.
Re: POLL: What would induce you to cruise a ship/line you no
Michelle..excellent thought provoking question..as well as all the very valid reasons mention above, I think when "all the smoke clears", and all things being equal, if one is a TRUE cruiser, it would boil down to a) price b) ship" itin"...if those two are in harmony, a cruiser would be there in a minute...however if the price is right and the" itin" is wrong, I don't think a cruiser would go unless the cruise was free..the other incentive, if the cruise line promised that you would receive enough credit to "boost" your frequent cruiser loyalty program to the next award level, a true cruiser would find the cheapest cabin rate no matter what the ship "itin", bring their own ready to eat food and a good book and an mp3 player and a picture of their favorite cruise ship to remind them why they are sailing their least ship and enjoy 7 days at sea..but you know what, sometimes that could turn out to be their best cruise because the expectation was so low it would not take much to be pleased
Re: POLL: What would induce you to cruise a ship/line you no
Timing. price, itinerary, friends going. Sounds like all the factors in considering a Cruisemates cruise.
Or, Mark and Gram are staying home and Michelle is waiting for me on the ship.
(stop that, be good Papa)
Re: POLL: What would induce you to cruise a ship/line you no
Some cruise line to take the plunge and create another totally NON-SMOKING ship to replace the beautiful Paradise which will soon become as stinky as the rest. I loved her fresh environment, but sadly that is going the way of pulltabs. I know all of the excuses for changing this, but I also know a lot of people who sailed her for that reason alone...

I don't have to be enticed to go on a cruise - regardless of ship or itin. But.....things that would help:
Low cost/free
Free mini bar
Shipboard credits that actually amount to something
Shorts in the dining room
Free massage/facial
No ports.....at least for a caribbean cruise - just sea day
More single men
Free airfare to ports outside of Florida
I won't hold my breath for any of the above, but it is always fun to wish.
Jodi

Re: POLL: What would induce you to cruise a ship/line you no
If it was a theme cruise of a particular type that I'm interested in at the right price, then I would go on any cruise. For instance, I'm single and if it was a single's group with a majority of the opposite sex at a fair price, that would do the trick. If it was an "adult only" wine tasting cruise at a fair price, that would work. In short, any cruise that specifies singles, adults only and/or all-inclusive drinks would at least get my attention.

Kuki & Michelle,
Well we've thrown caution to the wind and after 1 on Princess then 3 straight on RCI (BTW We have enjoyed all trips with RCI) we're trying... NCL (See below). We just feel it's time to try something different and the Coastal cruise is perfect timing (and good price) for us.
If we don't like the first trip, obviously there will be a change of plans for the 2nd. A review will follow :-)
Re: POLL: What would induce you to cruise a ship/line you no
Hi:
My DH and I have been on over 30 cruises, but the one cruise line I'm reluctant to try, and I'm not really sure why I don't want to try it is, HAL. I know it's a favorite for a lot of people, but I just imagine it to be old looking, with really old people on board, and I don't know how I really got that image in my mind. I would like to try HAL, but I think it would have to be a really good price and going somewhere I haven't been before.
Happy Cruising......Anita
Re: POLL: What would induce you to cruise a ship/line you no
If there was overwhelming negativity about a certain line or certain ship then the only way i would give it a try would be if it was free. If there were a few negatives mixed in with some positives and i was leary it would have to be a great deal with a great itineary.
Re: POLL: What would induce you to cruise a ship/line you no
Hmmmm......it would have to be sailing with friends or family.
My sister (an avowed HAL-lover) is sailing the Disney Wonder next month with her kids and grandkids. She's looking forward to the cruise because of them, I think.
I would sail HAL with my big sis ANYDAY.
Would sail almost any other ship with a buddy or family member.
Even YOU, Thomas......especially if you bring that lovely Mrs. Thomas along!

I was offered the Penthouse Suite on the NCL Sky a couple of years ago for approx. $850.00 pp. I am not a big fan of NCL, but I took the offer. We loved all the perks, especially the 2 butlers!
