With the price of gas soaring and expected to go even higher I believe this will have a trickle down effect on the rest of the economy. I know I averaged $15/week in gas last Jan. Yesterday it cost me $28 to fill up. That is nearly double and next week it probably will be double. I have a set weekly budget amount for personal expenses such as gas, clothes, entertainment, personal care (haircuts, manicures, pedicures) and meals out. I have not gotten any change in pay since 1/1/04, nor do I expect any such adjustment and my health insurance will skyrocket in Oct (per our human resources people).
Therefore, I have had to cut back on everything else. I do not go out for lunch or dinner anymore. I have bought only 1 new outfit for spring/summer and no new shoes or purses. I stretch my need for a haircut an extra week or 2 and even then only go to the Super Cuts type place, preferably with a coupon. I have not had my nails or toes done since my cruise the end of March. I havenít been to a movie all year. I get videos from the library. These are the changes I have already made and I know more will be coming as home heat (natural gas) and electric will also go up.
There was an article saying the oil prices will fall before the election as this deal was made a long time ago......So I think you be able to go see a movie again soon...I am just thankful my husbands company pays all the car expenses....including gas.
