What do you do on St. Patricks day?
We usually do not go out because all the bars are so packed with people!
We use to go for corned beer and cabbage, not sure what we will do this year.

I have that date highlighted with a tooth-shaped Post-It note.
i.e--While Irish eyes are smilin,'
my dentist will be filin.'

Actually it's just a routine cleaning, but the rhyme makes it a little funnier and more thematic.

Working in a daycare, I always celebrate with decorations, wearing green (something I NEVER do otherwise, since I hate green!), and some Irish Rovers and Chieftains music to get the kids dancing! I also have been known to read the DR. Suess story "Green Eggs and Ham", and have even COOKED up real green eggs and ham as a cooking activity. Montreal also holds a a fantastic St. Patrick's Day parade downtown, but both times I have attended, I have frozen my tootsies off!

Fun right?

We usually stay quietly at home. I cook the traditional corned beef and cabbage. One year I added green food coloring to the potatoes. Patty was delighted. When I was young and growing up in Melrose Mass. I would skip school on St. Patricks Day. We would take the train to Bostons South End to see the parade.

We usually fix corned beef and cabbage but hubby has a convention that night so not sure what we'll do. Kids aren't into it that much as far as the corned beef and cabbage go. dd will eat a little corned beef , ds--not sure.

Corn beef & cabbage at our favorite watering hole, Murphy's. Then a week later we make the same at home.

A dental appointment this year for St Pat will be eclipsed by next year. Poi and corned beef, anyone?

It's been so long since I've had good old New England corned beef and cabbage. YUM.

They cure the corned beef different in other areas of the country, and it's never the same to me.

We celebrate my daughter Kelly's birthday on St Patrick"s day. Don't do much else.

Phyll, is Kelly's favorite colour Kelly Green?

When I lived in MA, St Patty's day was a party. Since I couldn't afford two days off work, I would work a half day on St Patty's and take off the next day to recover.

We started a tradition here in our lovely city..We have the shortest street in the world..it is even in the Guinness book...They started a beer crawl last year with the shortest St Patricks Day Parade on Bridge st and then the beer crawl...This will be the second or third year for it..I am working that day so who knows if I will show up.

Will make and eat the traditional corned beef and cabbage which is called boiled dinner here in New England. I will wear green. If I get really into it I might make scones or Irish Soda bread. My sister and her husband are going to meet up with their son and fiance in Boston for the Parade. They are very excited.

I decided this year since I'm a little strapped for cash I will be looking for the rainbow, hunting down a leprechaun and wrestling him for his pot o' gold. I'm not sure if I need a special hunting license for leprechaun, but I will be doing a catch and release type hunting. I'll have to look into it before next week.

Perhaps I'll put on my Chieftans music. RollerDonna, when I was a kid we watched the Irish Rover's TV show every Sunday night on one of the Canadian Channels (we only got 3 channels with our antenna - CBS, ABC and CBC and on French station).
I loved them and especially the Unicorn Song. I loved the sweaters they wore.

In me younger days, went to the landing in St Louis and drank green beer and pinched the boys that didn't wear the green <g>..Now it is much more sedate..corned beef and cabbage and some beer..and I pinch DH just for the fun of it.
