Default Cruise deal/ vacation

Hi all,
I'm on all the mailing list for sucker of the year award.
Here is what I received in the mail just yesterday.
A voucher worth $1600.00
3 nights of accommodation in Orlando Florida
RT cruise on Carnival to Nassau
7 days of Alamo rent a car.
3 day, 2 nights in Las Vegas
4 day 3 nights in Puerto Vallarta,Mexico.

After reading the fine print..."------ Resorts markets the quality travel package to promote specific hotel, which is owns & operates and in return requires the attendance at a presentation on the sale of independent vacation ownership resorts."
Another words they are selling time shares
Don't fall for this one!!!

Unless the fine print reads "requires the attendee to PURCHASE a time share", I don't see much of a problem, provided you actually get the perks they promise.

I'd gladly sit through a time share presentation for a free cruise anyday. I've waited longer to BOARD a cruise I've paid for.

It does sound fishy that they'd offer so much, though. But I've seen other offers that give you far less... like a plastic camera.

It's possible that they're not paying for port charges, taxes, and fees, either. Or airfare if you need that... so the cruise could end up costing you quite a bit.

Cheers,
Michelle P.

If the prize is worth it, I'd sit through a presentation.

The lovely Mrs. Jones and I took many nice vacations years ago when we didn't have any money, but wanted to go on a trip. Yes, you have to sit through a sales pitch, but you must keep your wallet in your pocket. Yep, they put the pressure on, but once again, just keep the pocket book closed, and enjoy the trip. Just be sure to read all the "fine print" and you'll probably have a great time.
Happy sailing,
Ken

If it is like a 90 minute presentation sale pitch....I can sit there and say NO for 90 mins.,,no problem mon...as long as they come thru with what they promised. I have done this on a couple of occasions and the last one we went to. Was not a timeshare but a vacation club and we bought into it. Some of the best money I have ever spent. In fact 6 out of the 10 couples that were there bought..Sooo you never know when you might run into a deal you cant beat. We even got a free Cruise out of it..incld all taxes and port charges.

Sounds like Ramada Plaza Resorts - and believe me, by the time you pay the port charges (and you don't get Carnival, you get the Imperial Majesty), taxes, fees, airfare, etc - you will pay way more than the cruise itself is worth if you would have bought it straight out.

We got a free week in Mazatlan for sitting through a presentation. Spent the week at El Cid and had a great time.

We sat thru a 90-minute presentation in Palm Springs, CA some years ago. it was a major hotel chain who wanted to sell vacation time shares in new condos they built. We passed on the so-called deal.

I recieved the same mailing. Did some research & threw it in the trash. Look up Imperial Majesty online. Good luck to anyone who bites this one.

OK here is help on how to get out of a high-pressure time-share presentation.
The object of the salesperson is to find out why you say NO you donít want it.
Then they override your objections and try to close the sale.
Here is the trick to ANY high-pressure salesperson situation.

Tell them you donít want it and when they ask you why. Donít give them a reason.
You can say for example. I donít know why I donít want it. Or I canít put my finger on it right now. Or It just doesnít feel good. Most important after you give one of these answers STOP TALKING. Donít say a word it might get very quiet in the room for a long timeÖ. but say NOTHING! ďThe first person that talks looses.Ē If you, the customer (I know I am one) gives the salesperson something to work with heís got you.

The secret is not to tell the salesperson why you donít want it so he canít overcome your objections. You will be out of there in no time.
