The details are a bit sketchy still, but our local newspaper ran an article this morning stating that a young man from Calgary, who was dealing in the casino on the Carnival Destiny died as a result of some sort of water related accident while in port in Barbados.
Apparently he was first paralyzed when rushed to hospital, and called home to say they'd be airlifting him home to Calgary. The next day they were called and told he had passed.
The family said he had been living his dream... and loving his job.
Please say a prayer for the young man and his family.

This is so sad. We were discussing this the other night on how in just a few seconds things can turn so wrong. My thoughts and condolences are with his family.
Take care,
Mike

Re: Cruise Ship worker from Calgary Dies in Barbados
How heartbreaking.
The fact that he actually survivied the accident, and even phoned home, yet then suddenly passed, is even worse. As a mother it would break my heart knowing that there was a chance for life and then it was snatched away. I also realize the hospitals there may be good, but I would also fear that something went wrong in his care ,and that his death although an accident was preventalbe.
I am glad the young man was enjoying his life on the cruise ship, many of us do not live our dreams, this young man did.
Deepest sympathy for his family and friends.
