Default Neat program

There's a neat free program at http://earth.google.com/. You can zoom in on anywhere in the world.

I found cruise ships in Tampa, Port Canaveral, and Port Everglades! And in port in Ocho Rios. Anyone see any others?

Cheers,
Michelle P.

Michelle, do you get close enough to recognize ship? Can you make out people? Is it real time or were the ships just in port when they created the images?

This could be a great way for stalking cruisemates!

Unfortunately, it's images that "were" when the picture was taken,,,,but trust me, and Michelle P. It's really impressive, and great fun. I grew up in a little town in Indiana, and had no problem finding the house I grew up in. My wife was born in Sicily, and found the bridge she was born under. (Sorry, I always tell her that) Seriously, she was able to find the house she grew up in there as well!! It's really interesting to look at the ports, and other spots that you know well. Log in and enjoy!!
See you aboard,
Ken

I tried it out and....well, either it's not even close to being a current view, or someone has stolen my car, my truck, my trash can, my dog's house, my shed and a neighbors entire house!

It might be current for some locations, but not for this little ol' Arizona town.

Steph:

I just looked and the picture of my house shows a dirt farm so it must be current. <VBG>

Take care,
Mike

Marc, they're satellite images that were mostly taken two or three years ago, I think. You can zoom in pretty close on the ships but you can't make out people.

Where my house is now, you can see that the subdivision land has been cleared, but nothing has been built yet, so the Orlando pictures had to have been taken about two and a half to three years ago.

Cheers,
Michelle P.
