About a week ago I began encountering a strange phenomenon on these boards. I'm now wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.
I'm reading a post when, suddenly, my screen turns to white. The only things that appear on that pure white background are 1) any moving avatar (e.g., a waving flag), and 2) whatever smilies were visible on the post! This happens only with action avatars, although they don't move during this event.
This lasts for about 10 seconds or so, at which time the message I was reading reappears. I never know when to expect it. Strange!
Jack: Boy, that is strange! I have not experienced that. Anyone else?

Jack, No I have not had that happen. But I do notice why are sometimes posts lime green and not the usual white background colour? For instance your thread is all in lime green background. Is it because you made it lime green and everyone else's post follow suit??
Good luck with your computer gremlin!

Thanks for all your uplifting comments, everyone. Your "drinking" solutions are way off base, I'm happy to say. There were 3 or 4 times that this happened while I was cold sober. So I guess I'll have to blame it on something else. My WebTV comes to mind as a likely villain.
Brenda, I don't set or alter the color(s) for my posts. So I can't explain why they appear in a sickly green hue. Maybe it's a sign of my extreme envy, in that nobody else seems to have my problem. Grrrr!
Oh well, I'll just have to be content with sitting here staring at Tweety's bird and Rebel's flag and other such lively avatars. And the Smileys are real cute too.
