Location: Greater Tampa Bay area (south of the BIG BRIDGE!)
We will be at my Daughter's an hour away.......I'm fixing mashed potatoes, Coke gelatin salad(has bing cherries, cream cheese cubes, walnuts and pineapple in black cherry jello....Coke instead of water) and homemade yeast rolls. Others are bringing the other holiday staples. My SIL will deep fry the turkey as always.....YUM.....so moist.
We will have the traditional ThanksGiving at our house for all the kids and all the inlaws. The men will all be hunting in the morning and then come in for the Great dinner prepared by my DW and my MiL. I guess the rest of the day will be spent restin up for work the next day.
We are going to spend a couple of days with my family at my cousin's house on the Cape. Eventhough i am not doing the "big" cooking. I will find myself in the kitchen for a good portion of the day, after all isn't that where everyone ends up anyway???
I tried to see where people were located but I don't see it for Darlene who will be alone.
I thought we would be doing Thanksgiving with my in laws - I cooked everything and had them over last year and we were going to be down on our property this year about 1 mile from them and I wondered why everytime i mentioned Thanksgiving the subject got changed. Well after point blank asking yesterday I found out they are going to one of my new mother'in'laws (they just got married 1 1/2 ago) neices and leaving us out in the cold. Very rude! I don't like her. Anyway so now I'm thinking about staying home and maybe getting together with friends - if not just hubby and me... Fine with me. Debbie
There's just the two of us here, but I will be cooking turkey, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy and crescent rolls, with help from my DH! I'll need recipes for leftover turkey the day after!
My cornbread dressing (for two, easily doubled):
1 pan of "Jiffy"(c) corn muffin mix, baked according to instructions for "Johnny cake", and crumbled.
2 cups stale white bread, crumbled.
Salt to taste (I don't use it)
1/2 teas. ground pepper
1 TBS ground sage, or to taste (I don't like sage, so I don't use it, but you can!)
2 TBS real butter
1 cup chopped onion, sautéed with the
1 cup chopped celery, sautéed
2 cups chicken broth
2 beaten eggs
2 hard cooked eggs, chopped
Mix all together and bake at 350 until top is brown, but the dressing is still moist. (About 30- 45 mins)
We'll be sailing at Christmas/Chanukah time, so won't have to cook that day!

Debbie might as well you are not with the in-laws if they are mean! have a good day mates

June 1st 2015--- Denali Explorer Cruise on Star Princess!
If we stay home, Trevor will cook the turkey dinner. He's an excellent cook, and spoils me rotten!!!! I will have to clean up afterwards, though, something I'm better at than him--right after a meal.
One year we went out for dinner. Last year, we joined my parents and brother over at Cracker Barrel on 1-75 and Rte. 64, if any of you close Floridians know that area.(Bradenton). It's about 1 1/2 hours from here.
Mom is no longer able to travel. They do have some nice neighbors, and my USF niece, Sarah, will try to get down there, I'm sure.
Another option is to go to my step-daughter's house 45 miles north of here in Lake Wales and join in with the rest of the family, including Son-in-Law's kin, but that invitation hasn't come yet. And, Trevor doesn't like all the commotion.
So, right now, it's stay home, and "we'll see". Lynne
