We still have a few days to use up our 37-cent stamps. The new rates are effective on January 8th. Also, the 1st-class letter rate for mail over one ounce goes up to 63 cents (when in doubt, add the extra 24 cents). Postcards will now cost an extra penny at 24 cents each.

Happy New Rates!

Jack

Yeah, I'm gonna have to learn to pay bills on line. Actually, I was surprised at the number of Christmas cards we received this year. I thought people would be put off by 37 cents, but I guess not. I was glad; I enjoyed all the news letters.

Yep, and the only bill I pay with a stamp is my credit card. Long ago I set up everything else on automatic withdrawal; it works like a charm. I still get the bills and just deduct it from checking.

I know it's easier to pay online but have you ever thought about all those people who work for the U.S. Postal Service and what that might do to them and their familes?...... I have, I might not be able to cruise again as I'am a letter carrier...

Oh please, government workers for the most part live very well and don't forget all the perks on top of that.

My daughter's best friend has been a letter carrier for 20 years.
$50k a year not bad (not fantastic but not bad) especially vs. what the "average hard working person makes.
We have other friends who are also postal and one who was postmaster in town for years and retired VERY well.

The problem is not with the workers but with typical gov't waste.

Don't worry, I still buy stamps occasionally, but would be happy with mail delivery twice a week.

Thats what i'm saying delivery 2 times a week would put 10,000's of thousands of people out of work. I never said anything about how much we make and for the "perks" I think you would be suprised on how much the rest of corprate America has caught up. Back 25 yrs ago the beni's
were good but here in the Northeast just about everyone gets them now. The Postal Service does NOT receive any gov't money it relys on that 2 cent increase. Anyways just my 2cents
