Default Off Topic, but...Your Thoughts on LOST??

I'd like to hear some of your thoughts on the recent developments on LOST. Did anybody else notice last night that the new house that John was inspecting belonged to Sayid's ex-girlfriend? Did anybody else notice that the safety deposit box John opened for his father had the number 1516, two of the "numbers" ??
And what about this Henry Gale? Is he weird or what? Did you also realize that Henry Gale was the real name of the Wizard of Oz, the guy who flew in the balloon? Interesting stuff eh?

Those numbers appear a lot, in one form or another. Hotel rooms in the flashbacks, seat numbers on the airplane, Hurley's lotto combo, etc.

And has anyone else added them up?

Default Off the Topic but What are Your Thoughts on LOST?

I've never watched LOST, but I thought your comment about Henry Gale was interesting.

also--if you add the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42 they equal 108 which is the number of minutes until you have to input them into the computer and hit execute

I cant believe John tried to get under that wall so quickly... wouldnt U test it to see if that flimsy tool box could support the weight ? Oh well...

I didnt know that was Sayids g/friend.... its funny how they are all tied together in different ways.... watching previews for next week... it appears to me that Hurley is hallucinating... I wonder if its from the food they had in the balloon ?

I wouldnt miss a week .... But, Im always LOST !

Donna, how perceptive of you...didn't notice any of it; neither did dh. Yes John should have put the discs under the steel door before attempting to crawl under it. What's with Henry Gale: good guy or an "other"? Weird show, I think the writers partake of funky mushrooms.

I usually watch it twice, it's on both Canadian and American channels here, one after the other. Or I tape it and watch it again. always miss something the first time, usually catch it 2nd time around!
Nolou, how interesting about adding up those numbers = 108!!
I wonder what were those diagrams John saw when the lights went out?

Donna, you are so observant! While I will keep watching, this show is sort of losing me..The back and forth is driving me crazy. and some of the things are so convoluted, at least to me, I find it hard to follow.

I have been busy on Wed. nights lately, but now that I'm free, I might try to get involved again. Sounds interesting.

Donna,
I'm so glad you started this thread. Love the show..it's like this giant puzzle. I did add the numbers and Nolou is right...108 the same # on the countdown minutes.
Did not see the # on the safety deposit box, though..can't believe I missed that. Henry Gale is creepy but I'm starting to think that he may not be an "Other" just because that's the first thing most of us (my family) thought. It just seems too obvious. I just can't figure out what he is. Perhaps a bit "looney" because he lost his wife and being on the island.
Time will tell.

That's why I asked if anyone else had added them up. Mathematically, it's
2^2 + 2^3 + 2^4-1 + 2^4 + (3 x 2^3 -1) + (2x3 x 2^3-1). The only prime number in the set is 23 (3x2^3-1). There might be some way to rearrange them to derive a progression or sequence but someone else can tackle that. Unless they offer some kind of prize for unravelling it, I'm not going to bother.

And I'll have to see the episode again, but I think that pattern Locke saw
was an octagon, (2^3) again. And I lost one "Lost" episode--I was at sea watching the moon rise, so I wasn't really thinking about what I was missing on TV.

BTW, I saw something on the NE corer of Maui as we were leaving Hawaii in our wake, a familiar looking cliff and rock pattern that took me 3 days to remember where I had seen its picture before. It was the sight Michael and Sawyer commented on when they launched the raft.

Zina, were you not paying attention? "Henry Gale" says he buried his wife.
Sayid, Anna Lucia and Charlie discovered that the body of his "wife" was actually a man, a black man, with the I.D. Henry Gale!!!!

And Seahunks, your mathematical equation LOST me completely!
But you're right, in that the shape John saw was an octagon. Same shape as the Dharma logo. I'm just curious as to what all the little markings mean.....

Donna--I also noticed the shape of the markings being the same as the Dharma logo. Can't wait for next Wednesday. (I'll actually watch it Thursday since it's my Wednesday to work next week. Tony tapes it for me)

BTW--does anyone watch the show "24"? I'm hooked on that show on Monday nights.

I too am obsessed with LOST and 24. I have not missed an episode of either show. I have a friend that bought the first 3 years of 24 and Marsha and I watched them in about 3 weeks.

Default Off topic, but your thoughts on LOST?

I am an ADDICTED to LOST and 24.

steph - texas ---- I fully agree, seems anyone in their right mind would wait a few to see if the toolbox would hold the weight of the door. Yhink I wouldhave looked for something a bit more substantial.

trip - The back and forth drives me crazy also. My wife cannot understand how I can keep up with what is going on. (don't tell her, but sometimes I get a little"lost").

If I can't watch either show, I ALWAYS tape them.

I don't know if they are trying to "muddle" things up for us sometimes or I think, did I miss something, well no, I just didn't understand exactly what just happened. I still like to watch it though.

Another one that I have have become interested in is: Numbers.

Any of you guys watch that one??

On LOST, I am still waiting to see what happens when they don't get to punch in the numbers and hit the button before the alarm stops. Came close last episode.

I try to watch it just to see if I can see what people see in it. I honestly don't see much plot here, it just goes off in tangents... with the occassional thread to tie it together.... much like my mind most days.

kuki - - - I have to agree, here in Central Texas there isn't much to watch on Friday nights except Monk.
The history channel and travel channels are my favorites also. A lot of the time I have already seen the programs though.
