I LOVE TiVo!! You can record up to 150 hours of programming, set it up to record a certain show at a specific date and time (either a one time thing or week after week), keep the recordings as long as you want or set it up to automatically delete them after a few days. You won't forget to ever record a show! (And you can record 2 shows at the same time!!). The only problem I have run into was I had recorded certain "special" shows for my kids (Christmas specials etc...) and the box needed to be replaced. There went the recorded programs!
We have TiVo and love it. We hardly ever watch commercials anymore. We record a program one night and will sit down the next and watch it, fast forward through commercials. But remember, if you record an event that just might possibly run longer that expected tape at least the next show after that event to make sure you don't miss the end. Learned by experience!! TiVo doesn't know that the show is running long, it just stops recording at the designated time. We do love it though. It's worth the extra money.

Hi Luanne !
Trust all is well with you. I have Tivo and absolutely love it. It depends on how important TV is to you, but I find it is a rewarding device and I am happy to have it. It is so far superior to a VCR recording and so much easier to use.
I don't have it. I still use the VHS. Why??? you ask. Well.. I don't watch the same shows as my DH. So I record it on tape, pull my tape out and go to the other TV in the house and pop the tape in to watch at my leisure without hogging the TV. Maybe its just me but I find it more convienent.
Life is too short to let the ship of your dreams sail without you.

I use a tv/capture card in my computer that records on the hard drive. (same as TiVo). You can watch air or cable television at the same time as working on the computer. You can set it up to time record daily, monthly, one time etc. If you like, you can burn your show to a disk to watch later and save HD space. Cost was $39.00 and works better and has more options than TiVo, but basically the same.
This is the one we use.
Its the shizzle and worth every penny. Before we got ours I didnt think Id like it. Now I'm hooked like crack.
It completely maximizes and customizes TV viewing. For once its like the TV is working for you. Pausing while you get up to get a drink or answer the phone, finding shows your interested in, and last, but certainly not least, saying goodbye to commercials. I havent watched a commercial in like two years.

Wanted to let everyone know that Tivo because a part of our life tonight. Hubby is still in the floor trying to set it up, but I am sure that once he figures it out, and he is forgiven for the bad words coming out of his mouth, it will be fun.
