A Round for the House, On Trip!

There was an article in the paper today about a store in California, called Galco's Soda Pop Stop. I'm from Boston, and soda pop won't do, so from here on forward, I will refer to pop as tonic..bear with me

This shop specializes in tonic and beer from around the world. Here are some great and not so great sounding ones...

ManhattenSpecial Expresso Coffee Soda..lordy

Red Ribbon Cherry Supreme ..sounds good to me

Jamaica's Hot Hot Hot, a pale ginger beer so spicy it burns your lips...oh no!

Sangaria Ramune, from Japan, a melon flavored soda, with a marble in the bottle..calling Perry Mason please!

Nurky Rose Soda from Florida, made from crushed rose petals..huh?

There was a chatter who used to love Ting, a tonic from Jamacia..Oddly I saw it in my supermarket recently.

I think we need a road trip to this shop..what do you say kids?


We had Carling Black Label, not sure I remember a tonic specific to my area, but then again, I was not allowed to drink it much when I was a kid.

I do have a pin, made by an artist of Hollywood legend, Joan Crawford, this artist works in vintage tonic caps, that make up the face and the body..really are quite interesting..Every time I wore it I got stories.

Trip, Do you remember Walkers Tonic? It was made and bottled in Melrose/Stoneham on the Fellsway near Jerry Jingle Restaurant. In what we kids called Jerry Jingle Woods.

The only one I can think of is Jones soda.........most don't sound all that appertising........turkey & gravy??? Don't think so.......green beans.....no....cranberry doesn't sound too bad........

They usually come out at holiday time.......

There's a market in Los Angeles that's been around forever which carries lot of old time sodas and colas, many I'd never heard of. The only one I can remember is NiHi. Probably a lot of people recall that.

Hi Trip I just thought of another one. I am not sure if it was regional or not. I tend to think it was but the brand was Cliquot Club. Strangely all I remember is ginger ale. I do not remember any other flavors. I remember the label showed an Eskimo face in a furry hood.

Birch Beer is a big regional favorite SODA in South Jersey and SE Pennsylvania.
