Default Need help with dress code!

The dress is "cocktail attire"; I.e., your basic black dress (or
whatever you feel like for dinner) and a coat and tie for the gentlemen

So could I wear a black pant suit? Does it have to be black? Help! Someone knows the answer to this?

IMO, a pant suit will be fine, if it would be considered "After 5" attire. And no, it doesn't have to be black. Hope this helps.

If your pantsuit is of a dressy fabric and cut and you pair it up with a silk top, or even something with a hint of sparkle to it, add dress heels, nice jewelry and you will be all set, any color will do you just fine, it does not have to be black.
As for the men, i would go for either a suit or dark suit separates.

Why not? If it's a tailored dress suit it should work fine. If you end up looking like you work for "Findum, Cheatum and Howe" then you may want to go with something that has a bit more sparkle.

Take care,
Mike

Thanks for the help I told my dh I don't want to go so I think he is cancelling. I don't want to spend the money on a dress.
