Book with the cruise line or travel agent??

Here's a link to an article (well two articles) I've written about booking your cruises, and pros and cons.

If anyone would like to throw in some more input we'd love to hear it.

Book Directly or with a Travel Agent?

I have had two negative experiences in dealing directly with a cruise line.
Since those experiences, I have only used a travel agent.

Kuki,

Good article. I wish there was an article about what to expect from a TA. I have now worked with two different ones, and I am still not sure what I can or can not ask of them.

Thanks again.

A Travel Agent, all the way!

Maybe I wouldn't feel this way if we didn't have a great TA. We had a good TA (we thought) for our first two cruises. Then she refused to book us on NCL!

I found a new TA! She's a Certified Cruise Specialist and will answer any questions we have. I've even asked her questions about things I've seen other posters ask and she's been more than happy to answer!

If I email her, unless she's out of the office (not often!), she replies in less than 30 minutes. She's even been able to get us OBC after final payment when the prices went down!

She gets the best prices and always sends us a little "gift" on board.

I can only hope that she doesn't retire before we "go" !

This is what you can expect from a GOOD TA!

Do travel agencies have access to ALL the cabins or do they only have a "block" of rooms they can sell first then go back and get more if needed. What about online agencies? I've used Carnival for both of mine that I booked. I did a lot of research with online agencies before booking the one I have now and took the lowest price I found and gave it to my Carnival rep and he was able to beat it. Should I now keep checking with him for lower rates in the months to come. I booked a guarantee balcony. Do those rates usually stay about the same or do they also drop at some point? Now I'm wondering if I should have used an agency.

Hello, i agree with you that book with travel agent is much better than the cruise line or organize the tour by your self.

but if any one of you know a travel agent in Alexandria to do a tour for me?
