Three days at sea we arrived in Richard's Bay, South Africa on April 6, 2003. This town was small village until they decided they needed an alternate port for Durban. It lies north of Durban on the Eastern coast of South Africa. They constructed a deep water port which transformed the area into a successful commercial port. The area is surrounded by wetlands, lakes and tember plantations. We rented a car to find the animals. We found a few. We drove North for almost 2 hours to Hluhluwe Umfolozi Reserve Park. The Reserve is huge. We drove for about 5 hours in the Reserve and the following is what we saw.
