you still use a CD player your kids must be embarassed to be seen with you in the mall with you listening to a CD player ::

ask Santa Claus for a 8GB Sony Walkman Video player with the upgrade headphones or the new IPOD

but hey..I still have my 8 track player hooked up in my garage..I won't even tell you the looks I get from my hi-tech son and grandson when they come to visit..come to think of it that's why they got me the 8GB Sony (which I love by the way and can hold about 900 song and God knows how many short video downloads)

I guess Seadog is a little more old school. In my car I have The Delphonics and in the house I have the Dramatics (drama V).

SeaDog......you have the "JAMS"...the best part of the movie Foxy Brown (besides Pam Grier) is the soundtrack that has the Delphonics...I have them and the Stylistics on my MP3 player

Mean Dean...glad, once again, we are of the same mind set about a CD player

Yeah, about the CD player.....I got an MP3 player for my birthday, and it was great - purple and very portable. I listened to it for about a month until it died a sudden death. I went back to the store and they had Sony mail me a replacement. I listened to that for about an hour in the hospital last weekend, when it suddenly stopped playing and wouldn't turn off. It is now a useless piece of junk. So I have hauled out my trusty old CD Walkman again and am enjoying Justin Hines once again.

RD..the reason why your MP3 player does not work right is that you didn't download it with BeeGee songs ::

I listen to music in my car, which has a CD player. I commute an hour and an half every day. I love to sing in the car.

Delphonics were in the 1994 film directed by Quentin Tarantino called Jackie Brown. I'm not certain they were in the 1974 flim Foxy Brown. Pam Grier was in both films. I never saw Foxy Brown, but I really enjoyed Jackie Brown. Here is the opening of Jackie Brown, great music in that movie.

you are right about the title..I was confused because she was in both movies (I suspect Quentin might have done that on purpose as a tribute to her)...

Whenever I hear the Delphonics on my MP3 player, I think of Pam Grier (come to think of it, even when I don't hear the music I think of Pam Grier)::

with that long of a commute everyday, you need to get audio books and perhaps study for your PhD in Trivia ::

Years ago, before I met him, my hubby was into acting in a local theatre company. He had the opportunity to be an extra in a movie being shot in Montreal, starring Pam Grier. The title was the something Factor (can't remember the something!). He's not sure it was ever released, but he treasured the experience.

It seems like the scores and soundtracks to the movies in the 70's were much better. I miss those days.

Venice,

I have an idea with regard to your house cleaning.

Hook up your 8-track player to a 200 watt-per-channel amplifier and some JBL speakers. When you need to clean the house, open the doors and windows, turn up the volume, and blow the dust out!

You can dance in the living room, while your audio systems cleans the house!

Mean Dean if I did what you suggested, my neighbor directly across the street woud get his very loud leaf blower and blow everything back into my home ::

venice, I still have some of my cloths from the 70's. Every now and then someone around here throws a 70's party and I rummage through those boxes to see what I can get into. Not much. Looking back on the styles of the 70's they were pretty wild. Double knit slacks, butterfly collers and who could forget Polly and Esther.

I still have an 8 track myself and about 120 tapes for it. In fact, my oldest and longest held possession is my Three Dog Night "Golden Biscuits" tape followed quickly by my Deep Purple "Hush" one, both 38 years old... older than my children!

Ooopps, I fibbed as I finished this. I have a rifle that I received 41 years ago for my Birthday.

At least I can listen to the tapes.

Geeze what a pack of old fogies ! I have an 8 GB 3rd generation IPod nano (yes, I am miffed that Apple had the nerve to release the 4th generation so soon without my permission ). It is my second MP3 player as my old Dell Juke Box was retired with honors. I have about the equivalent of 50 cds on it and use it to watch NBC Nightly News on the train in the morning. I also use Bose ear buds which provide excellent sound. I have an adaptor that charges it while it broadcasts through my car radio. My collection is about 60/40 country and rock.
