Default Holiday Wine List

I was at Bev mo looking for an affordable 90 point wines. It was hard, but I found one. So I thought, since the holidays are right around the corner, now would be the time to start a wine list. Here are some of my suggests. I would like to hear yours what's your favorite affordable wine? Red, White, and Rosa it doesn't matter.
Red
Geyser Peak Cabernet '05
Beaulieu Cabernet Napa '05
La Rochelle Pinot Noir Monterey '05
Souverain Merlot '05

White
Souverain Chardonnay Alex Valley '07
Brassfield Pinot Girgio '06

Rosa
Artezin Zinfandel by Hess '06

A good and inexpensive Riesling is Weingut Reuscher Piesporter. I don't know what the Wine Spectator rating is on it but it's a good wine for appetizers, poultry and fish. It is on the sweeter side, but not overly sweet. A good choice for those who don't like dry wines.

Take care,
Mike

This is funny. It's chianti all the time for me. Never varies. Chianti classico, reserve, Aziano, even Bolla is fine for table wine. I always like to have Chardonnay on hand for guests but I'll never touch it.

I'm also a Bud girl. Love the stuff. Good thing I'm working. Keeps me at 5 o'clock. My husband likes to have all the crazy beers around for guests. One that I am fond of is Peroni.

We often make our own from Wine Kitz and it is generally pretty good if you are patient enough to let it age. But honestly I have to admit I buy most of our table wine from Trader Joes. The have a really good Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet and at $36 a case, it's a steal. Three buck Chuck rocks!

I highly recommend the Chateaux de Diete Cola San Sucre San Cafeine.

Can generally be found in 12 and 24 packs

James RT just made me laugh out loud. Good thing I didn't have a glass of wine in my hand; I'd have spilled it all over the place.

I've Cat pee, Fat Ba$tard, Pinot Evil, Goats do Roam, Smoking Loon, etc...

I have heard that Goats Do Roam is actally excellent, so if you can find it, try it and let me know , but I am staying the hell away from the cat pee!

Katlady,

I swear by Coke Zero...and it has the caffeine. I switch to that after my two pots of coffee in the morning. Wonder if that's why my heart rate hovers around 130....hmmmmmmm?

As for wines, my late twin was a true expert. Moi, on the other hand, leans more toward Ripple, MD 20-20 or, if I feel especially ritzy, Mogen David Concord.

Seriously, I do like the Mogen David but we pretty much restrict ourselves to Riunite White Lambrusco (or should I say blanc?).

Sherry,

How about a great Oregon Pinot Noir? Willamette Valley, 2003, perhaps?

On my last cruise, there was a wine at the wine tasting that was excellent and I actually ordered a couple of bottles at dinner the rest of the cruise: Murietta's Well Red Meritage 1996. A real good red wine with a mix of cab and merlot.
