We usually advise, people leaving from Miami to book flights around 11:30/12 noon, at the earliest. Fll is easier to book an earlier flight, and, without custom issues, "pretty much" know you will be ok...

What's the earliest you have booked your flights home, and not have had to drink a quart of Pepto Bismal? Any funny, and or horror airport stories?

With RCI's two behemoths, being docked on the weekends in Lauderdale, you can bet your bippy, the airports will be shoulder to shoulder

Trip, On our last group cruise we had 3 couples who had booked their air from Columbus to FLL on the now defunct Skybus. 1 week before they were to leave 1 couple got a notice that their return flight time had be changed to the 9 am flight. Skybus had no phone number for clients to call to make changes. When they got to the airport to check in for the fight down they asked about changing the return flight but were told there were no seats available. Not much the couple could do at that point. As soon as they got onboard they went to the pursers office to explain the situation and see if there was a way they could get off the ship as soon as possible upon the return to FLL. The Costa staff went out of their way on debarkation day. My clients carried their luggage off and were the first to leave the ship. They made the flight easily and were home, unpacked and relaxing while the rest of the group were at the FLL airport still waiting to leave. We've laughed over this several times since.

We never book air earlier than noon just in case debark goes long or there is a delay getting into port.

Luckily for us we can drive to the port !

Not in any great hurry to get off the ship !

Well I really like to book flights with plenty of wiggle room. I won't bore you all with the details, but my best advice is to always look over all your airline tickets with a fine tooth comb. Ensure your flight info/dates/times etc.. are correct before you ever leave the house. Most of our issues arise from human error (usually mine) they are generally easy to fix beforehand, but would be trip wreckers if left unchecked.

We had an airfare issue on the flight to Miami from California. My parents sister, and Nephew were on a later flight at 7AM my hubby and I were on 6:15AM flight. Anyway my parents are very careful so they get to the airport super early and were told they were booked on the 6:15AM flight. My parents sister, and nephew just barely made the flight. My hubby and I were sitting in are seats and we could hear them calling for my dad's name. It was strange.

I booked all the flight through an on-line travel site. I check my e-mail twice a day and there were no updates that the flight had changed. I think maybe the other flight was more booked, since they were early the flight was changed. It came in handy we all took a cab to the hotel.

I don't like stress, so I allways give myself plenty of cushion.
