One of my ports will be Grand Caymen on my Valor cruise next year and I know they have a Rum Cake Factory/outlet there. Can anyone tell me if it will be cheaper to order the Rum Cakes there and have them shipped home rather than mail ordered from the states? Through the mail order it runs roughley one dollar per ounce including the shipping.
I went on the Rum Factory tour in the past, bought several Rum Cakes to bring home as gifts (not very many of them made it to their intended recipients) I later found out the same Rum Cakes were on sale on the ship for about the same price!
BTW didn't think much of the tour ... LOVED the Rum

I agree with the others above,,,the cakes are GREAT, but the tour and the price aren't much better than buying them aboard ship. Occasionally I'll buy the cakes just before re boarding the ship just to be sure I get exactly what I want, but once again, the price isn't all that much better.
I love those Rum Cakes and always get a few to bring home. I too found the price on the ship are about the same so I usually just get them there. That way I don't have to lug them around while in port. Check the price when you get onboard, then check out the price in port. Then buy where you get the best price. We have never done the tour, just go to the shop in Cayman. I'll be there in Jan. and so looking forward to it. As TC said about bringing them home as gifts, we seem to eat them before they are deivered. Love them!
Thanks everybody for the replies. I do buy a couple of the "six packs" when on board the ship and was wondering if the price at the factory was any better. I've found the selection on the ship limited. I love the pineapple and would like to get a couple of the big ones.
