Female body recovered off Douglas Island, close to Glacier Bay National Park at 4:30pst today. Won;t say for definite it's the female who "fell" from the Zaandam.
Fox News.
I think most Americans would strongly disagree inasmuch as while a report may be "precise," it all too often is incomplete which is at least as, important as being precise.
That might be why last March a poll conducted by the widely respected Harris Poll, determined that only 30 percent of Americans did not trust the print media.
I think more than fifty percent of those polled would consider the term "villified" excellent terminology in describing their feelings.
The problem is that the word "fall" does decribe the action of descending through the air, but it also implies a lacjk of personal responsibility for what happned.
Subsequent reports say she very likely "jumped" before she "fell" so those of us who really care about accuracy find a world of difference between the two words.
I prefer that news reports use the term "went overboard" - even though it is also a vague term at least it doesn't imply there was something faulty about the ship.
