Susan, thanks for your booking suggestions. I had a nice conversation with nancy yesterday. She says i can transfer my booking to her, keep my cabin & save 224.37 per person + 50.00 onboard credit. I asked her many questions but i still would like to hear from some of you here about your experience booking with her. If some of you can ease my mind some i am ready to transfer! I realize to you this is probably a no-brainer but i can't help my skeptical side! Thanks for any info anyone can supply.

Hi Mama! We've booked all our cruises through Nancy, ever since the Get Lei'd 3. It seems like she's at work 24/7 and even responds when she's traveling. So, here's a reference from 2 people who think she's the best in the business!!!

Nancy Bogert has been the agent handling all our CruiseMates group cruises for I think the past 5-7 years. I used to put them all out for bids. But we know Nancy will give the very best price she can, and provides SUPERB service, so need for more shopping.

Default Welcome!

Yea, Mamaboss! So glad you decided to go with Nancy. I didn't even mention the fact that she's on the other side of the country from me. I originally thought it was necessary to deal with a local TA, but found that the face-time wasn't worth the dollars and service.

I booked Carnival Freedom group cruise April 26, 2008 to May 10, 2008. 14 day transatlantic cruise from Miami ending in the Rome port. Nancy was easy to work with and got back to me quickly with any questions or concerns. When the cruise line tried to "upgrade" us to the forward part of the ship (where the archor is) she stepped in and made certain our "upgrade" was in a better part of the ship. I really liked my cabin it was more AFT and easy to get up to the Lido Deck. I don't normally use a Travel Agent, but I was very pleased with her service.

We have used Nancy for 16 or 17 cruises. As hard as I might try, I can not find one thing that I might complain about. Have used a local (Dallas) two times and both were a bust.

Nancy is one to keep a link to.

Default Group activities?

Just wondering if I'm not looking in the right place. Has there been any discussion of group activities with this group or am I just too anxious to begin planning? We haven't done a group cruise before, so I'm new to this.
Thanks
Marianne

Hi Marianne!

At the moment this and the thread on the "meet on board" folder are the only threads about this cruise.

I haven't started to work on any group activities yet since we're still over 6 months out. But soon I'll be getting the group email list from Nancy, and at least get people talking to and "meeting" each other.

Since we've done this cruise several times before if you have any questions at all about the islands feel free to ask, and I or some of the other "Get Lei'd veterans" will answer I'm sure.

I can say you don't have to worry. There's going to be LOT OF FUN with this cruise.

Shar.. some of the more popular little things we repeat on most of our group cruises; like the gift exchange (small token gifts representative of everyone's home area), and the nightly trivia sheets.

Since it's Hawaii again, we'll probably go with the Ugliest Aloha Shirt contest ( held after Hawaii of course), so everyone has a chance to shop for the ugliest shirt in the islands.

For others I try and come up something different, that we haven't done before. Since it's a ways out yet, I really haven't directed my imagination to that task yet, but I'll do my best to come up with some fun stuff for sea days.

Hi all. Well I am all booked with Nancy now. So far I am pleased with the personal attention of a travel agent. Just want to thank everyone for your opinions. Nancy is great and of course the savings is not too shabby either! Looking forward to planning excursions etc. Has anyone used a private excursion company on the islands in the past? I am interested in a luau, pearl harbor and whale watching. Thanks again and hope everyone has a great week!

On one of the Let's Get Lei'd cruises we did a group trip to the Old Lahaina Luau on Maui, and it was fabulous. However, on this itin, the only late night port of call is Oahau. So that's the only spot to do a luau for those interested.

There's a magnificent luau at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel on Waikiki Beach, in a GOREGEOUS setting! (right in the center of Waikiki). Another nice location is Paradise Cover.

Since we've already done a luau, think we'll repeat a visit to a favorite spot; sunset drinks and dinner at The House Without a Key. An incredible setting!! Later on I'll see if any other "groupies" want to join, and make a group reservation.

Maui is probably the best bet for good whale watching tours.

I used to winter vacation in Hawaii for many years. I find an excursion isn't really necessary for most things. Easy enough to rent a vehicle on all the islands and get around on your own.

Default Shore Excursion Question

Is there any way to find out who the vendor is on a shore excursion? We have been looking at the Maui Snorkel Cruise excursion but would like to find out if they offer the SNUBA option.

I thought I read somewhere that "Roberts" was the operator for princess cruises.

Thanks I'll check it out. All of the independent snorkel/SNUBA tours I have checked into start to early or end to late.

Hi gang,

Good news to report: I got married again on Aug 7th to a lovely lady named Ruth. She is looking forward to this cruise and meeting the CM group. Ruth has been on only one cruise, so this one will be an eye opener for her with CM's on board. Talked to Nancy Bogert the other day to bring her up to date and found out about price reduction, my price is now lower for two than originally quoted for a single.:-D

Shar....please update your list to include Ruth. Thanks.

Got the email list from Nancy, and there's currently over 80 of us booked into this group. (And there's still space left if anyone wants to join the Get Lei'd gang)

I'll work on getting an introductory e mail out to everyone over the weekend, and will start a seperate thread where folks can "report in" and "meet" everyone , and start discussing some of the plans, and helping each other with questions folks may have.

Hey all, I have a catagory BA for this cruise and just noticed another price drop! I think it is 95.55 per person. Might want to check it out if anyone has the same catagory. I don't think any others dropped, but maybe!

Cool singles cruises

I see on some of the singles cruises that not everyone is a single. There are couples on board as well. Why is that?

Our group on this cruise is not a singles group, though we do have some singles within the group.

"Singles" group cruises are very rarely full ship charters, so the singles groups onboard generally are sharing the ship with the "regular passengers". Though, if it's an organized "singles group" they will have some cocktail parties, and activities set exclusively for those booked into the singles group.... just as we do for those booked in the CruiseMates group.

Those who have previously visited the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor need to make another visit. This week, they will open a new, larger facility (was on three-acre trac and now 17-acres). They say that they get 1.5 million visitors a year. We are planning to pre-reserve our visit.

Article was in Sunday Travel section of The Dallas Morning News.
