I've been up all night with a sick little girl. OK, Betty isn't a "little girl" anymore but she is sick. Her cold is still making her miserable. She stayed home from work yesterday and if she isn't any better she'll stay home today. She doesn't have a fever so I don't think a doctor's visit is warranted at this time.
It has been snowing steadily but fairly lightly all night and the talking heads say it will continue throughout the day. I blew the driveway about 3:00 a.m. but it looks like another 1/2 to 1 inch has collected since then.
Nothing really on the agenda for today except paying a couple of bills. I was just thinking that a week ago I was in Acapulco. What a difference a week makes.
I hope everyone has a great Friday and a fantastic weekend.
Take care,
Mike

Good Morning Mates,
Too dark to know what it will be like today. Manuel - good to see you starting the morning post today.
Yesterday was the day I was to be able to wear my contacts again. Slipped it into my right eye -immediate pain, removed, more pain.
My new contacts were in so I decided to go right to the eye docs. Of course he was not there - to people ever work anymore? I was to come back at 1 - seems the lesion was not quite healed, so that is why it hurt when I put in, then when I removed it I apparently removed the skin that had formed over the lesion - thus back to square one - only adding a different eye drop, and an night ointment and a more aggressive application.
Go to pharmacy - I can't find the over the counter ointment. So when my script is called I give the slip of paper from the doctor and tell her I can't find it on the shelves - do they carry it - she said yes, and went to get it so I followed so I would know just in case I ever needed it again. She hands it to me, we go to register, I pay, go home - and basically put eye drops in my eye the rest of the day/ evening.
At bed time my eye is not happy, and I am looking forward to the ointment, which should provide some relief and comfort. I open the package - which was almost 25 bucks. I think, "hmmm thought it would be a tube" but then thought perhaps it is a gel -so I put in the half inch strip - realizing it is drops - so no I have no ointment -and I have put way more than 2 drops in my eye and I don't dare put my medicated drops in as I don't know if they will react with each other. I am frustrated, mostly with myself as I should have double checked.
So now, if I can get my paperwork done, so I can get necessary reports out - that are required to be in the mail today, I have to go on a quest to try to find this ointment - which obviously my regular pharmacy doesn't carry.
This whole eye thing has me up against a wall, it really should not be this hard, yet it seems that it is extremely complicated.
So, it will be a long day. I will do my best to make it as productive as possibly and also to try to have the right attitude - God will have to work overtime in me today, for that to be accomplished.
BW - seems your ds is coming along well - such good news. I have lost track of when your daughters next appt. is - hoping it goes well, and the professionals, are well more professional.
RD - truly hoping your back is feeling better. I know how miserable it is - mine is a mess - yet at my doc. appt. this week he basically ridiculed me and insinuated that my pain was non-exisitant and my own fault and all in my head. So there was not a good feeling after I left, other than I did wrangle a PT appt. Thankfully the Physical Therapist is from my church, and she has seen me in extreme pain, and hardly able to move, so I pray that she is the answer to this whole back thing.
RD - I'll be praying that you get relief!
ToddDH - my love to you and Fran. I know you had put off some tests here, have you thought about going up to Cleveland - I so want you to be taking care of yourself - and I knew you meant Cleveland, OH - as I have had children in Cleveland, TN for about 7 years now - as I had one graduate from Lee University, and one will graduate from there next year. Have travelled to Cleveland, TN about 11 or 12 times, and know that they do not have the medical facilities that you would need.
Praying for you and dear Fran.
Prayers with so many others - I must get cracking....
Mates - find something to make you laugh today, it is "medicine that doeth the heart good"!
Wet & dreary here right now with this suppose to turn to ice and snow later today. Mike, I can relate, one week ago today I was in Roatan ready to spend a wonderful day basking in the sun.! Where is it now?
Today I plan on catching up on a lot of office stuff. Have a few bills to pay, and several reports to get ready for the home office. Will need to make a run to the bank, post office, and of course the grocery store. I didn't realize I was running out of coffe until last night. Had enough for today and maybe tomorrow but will pick up some to be on the safe side. Got to have my java fix.
RD- so hoping you are feeling better today. Back pain is no fun.
BW- sounds like D/S is doing good in his recovery. How are you doing?
Mike- hope Betty is on the mend today. Colds are also no fun. Bet your neighbors enjoyed hearing you out at 3am blowing snow!
Todd- prayers continue for you and Fran. We just got word that some friends will be moving to Greenville, Tn. this spring. Hate to see them go but his job is forcing the move.
Prayers continue for all our mates in need. Everyone have a good day.

Morning Mates,
Manuel, I'm glad you beat me to the Morning Thread, as I was lazy today!
I had a bad pain day yesterday, I don't know how I made it through the day, but I did. After supper I had a long soak in the jacuzzi tub and went to bed at 9:30 with pain killers and anti-inflammatories and slept well.
The back is feeling a little better today, and the sore throat thing has now morphed into a yucky cough, but at least it's coming out and I can get rid of it! Sorry, that was too much information!
One more work day, then I can rest all weekend, and I am looking forward to it!
Jen, sorry to hear about your eye problems, and your ignorant unprofessional doctor. How can a doctor suggest pain is all in your head? Even my boss yesterday looked at me and said "are you OK? you look like you're in pain".
Hope you get some relief soon too Jen....
Todd, how's it going with Fran?
Beenie, glad to hear your son is recovering nicely.
Well, I'm off to bundle up, it is -13C with a windchill of -25C, or 13 below 0 F. Brrrr! I think I'd rather see it snow, at least it would warm up a bit!
Good morning Manuel, Mike, Jen and all of my beloved Cruisemates.
It is going to be a raw wet day here in upper East Tennessee but at least it's rain. By the time the system get's to Washington this afternoon, it's supposed to be different precipitation and possibly two feet of it at that! Hope that doesn't mean something similar for our Cruisemates in the Tidewater area of Virginia!
Mike, please keep an especially close eye on Betty to ensure it is only a cold. I was diagnosed with probable pneumonia back during the holidays when Fran was in the hospital and I didn't have a temp, either. At least one thing in your favor, female patients aren't as whiny as we men...or are they?
Jen, thank you for your kind wishes. Yes, I shall be going to Cleveland after all...just don't know when.
Sue. small world isn't it? GreenEville (the middle "E" is often capitalized because while there are probably over a dozen "Greenvilles" there is only one Greeneville ) is graded one of the top 100 smal towns in the US in which to live so while it's hard to leave home, one can nevertheless sometimes be enchanted with the other side of the fence. Most folks who move here are experience that. Tell you friends to give us a buzz when they arrive. I'm in the book (Todd De Haven).
Justin, so sorry to hear about your seven month old but don't worry too much. the tube insertion isn't itself that, if at all, painful but it sure will aleviate the pain the poor little tyke is doubtlessly experiencing. Please keep us informed and I've added her to the prayer list.
R/D, "Get rid of that cold!!" and that's an order from, "The Sarge!" Fran is thankfully no worse these past few days and I think may possibly have been a little more "zippy" yesterday. I happen to be a firm believer the power of prayer and I thank all of you from the bottome of my heart for continuing yours for her!
Hope it's a short Friday for all of you who had or have to trudge off to work today. Hang in there; retirement might not be the same as a continuous vacation but I assure you, it sure as hell beats working! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Good Morning CruiseMates!
I am running later than usual today because my wonderful Husband decided to work from home today due to the nasty weather we're expecting and he got up and got dressed, then took care of d/s and allowed me to sleep in today, which I thought was really nice.
It looks like lots of folks are getting the creeping crud around here. I sure hope that gets nipped in the bud. Is that a sign that spring is right around the corner? I am really tired of winter weather already. In a bit I will go out and put salt down to keep me from providing comic relief to the neighborhood.
I am still enjoying my first cup of coffee. Last night I finally stopped procrastinating and signed up for the online PADI Open water scuba diving class. I really like to scuba dive a lot, but am always doing the discover scuba dives or the resort course dives and I always wanted to get certified but never made the time to do it. So I am going to try and get it done before the kids and I cruise in June so maybe I can do the open water dives while I am in Belize. I hope so anyway.
There's not much else going on today except I dreamed that today was Monday and no one knew what the outcome of the Super Bowl was.
Sure hope everyone gets feeling better now that the weekend is almost here, it would be a shame to not feel good enough to enjoy it since you waited all week for it to come.
Hi Kids,
Bright and sunny with no snow coming this far north,..all is good! YesterdayI got an A+ at the eye dr..he said my eyes are in wonderful shape, no fair my body is falling apart, but the eyes are good! I got a new pair of glasses and went for green this time, with mesh temples..,boy they are great looking..
If any of you are looking for a good cruise book, look for Boca Knights, I am on the sequel, Boca Mourings, and I am hooked..Steve Forman, the author is from the Boston area, actually where I grew up, and he writes about a Boston policeman, who retires to Boca, and all that ensues....good stories!
I am babysitting for Lucy today, so Sponge Bob is on the agenda, once again
To all our Cruisemate pals..GET BETTER, ya hear? xoxoxo

Good Morning cruisemates! Just enjoying my coffee, and waiting for the day to warm up. It's only in the 50s now
Took Mrs. Kuki and I my mother out for dinner last night. It was almost a disaster as my mother fell walking to the car. Luckily it appeared she just skinned a knee... though I think when she wakes up today her entire side will be bruised.
She insisted on continuing on to dinner, and we enjoyed an excellent meal. She doesn't eat all that much at home, and she's a tiny lady, but get her a meal she likes and she can really pack the food away. Amazing to watch actually
A friend from home arrived in town yesterday so we're... you guessed it... off to the golf course later this morning.
Henry 24" of snow..YUCK!! Thats a lot of snow.....
