Default Aft Cabins

I know a lot of you favour aft cabins. What is the reason for this? We have the choice of aft on our upcoming cruise but have heard good and bad reports.
Please give me your thoughts.
It is a large ship, the Star Princess and we would be looking at deck 10 or 11

Thanks in advance

Aft cabins used to be the secret of the ship..I think, till the Cruisemates had a water gun fight, and things sort of exploded..including the prices....

I have never felt any movement back there..we had a corner aft, with a balcony as big as Rhode Island! You can see where you have been, and watching the wake is relaxing... Book quickly if you decide to aft it

Trip, with her book & tea!

Talking Aft Cabins

We love the aft cabins. When we decide on a cruise, we always ask our TA to get us an aft (preferably corner) cabin. Why?

- Like Trip said, larger balcony
- No foot traffic to speak of - only those folks who live back there
- great views

Once I heard a lady talking to someone and said "our aft cabin is great, but it's so far to walk to get to the fitness center"!

It's the usually larger balconies, and the unobstructed views you get of both sides of the ship.

And philosphically, it's nice to see where you came from

Unobstructed view comes to mind --spoiled too--- I love sipping champagne and watching the world go by----watching the wake of the ship------
I did have an aft cabin on the Freedom of the Seas that wasnt the best---support beams ---and my TA was the one who let me know about that--

enjoy whatever you choose

Love 'em....I think it's "grand Class" like P&O's Ventura & Azura that have the "beam" obstructing. Daft but I actually see the point of them being a long way from the gym, our health club at home is no further than the gym was on Arcadia!!

We'll be doing an aft cabin on our next cruise.

I love the cabins because they are "usually" a bit larger than the other cabins in that class. They also "usually" have a larger balcony. I stress usually because there can be exceptions. The SV cabins on Celebrity and Azamara ships do not have larger balconies or cabins. The SV cabins on Century are pretty bad. You do get an aft view but you also have a view of the tarp over the Sunset Bar and you are on display to everyone at the bar.

If you are bothered by any vibration you may not like an aft cabin. Sometimes you can get some vibration when the aft thrusters are engaged. I was recently on Century, in an aft FV cabin, and there was some vibration when the thrusters were engaged when entering and leaving port. Some folks have said that the vibration was terrible but I found, that while I could feel it, it was not a bother.

I can spend hours at night just staring at the wake. Then again I can be easily entertained watching shiny objects.

Take care,
