While probably most of the organized remembrances occurred over the weekend, today is actually Memorial Day here in the States. Originally meant to honor the Union Civil War Dead and originally known as Decoration Dead (for decorating the graves of Civil War veterans), the holiday really didn't take hold in the South until after the First World War. Sadly, the actual observances so often associated with Memorial Day have declined since the years when virtually every American town would have well attended Memorial Day parades and programs.
Certainly a fitting day to honor all of those who have died preserving freedom regardless of nationality, I know all of our American Cruisemates join with me in saluting all of our Cruisemates everywhere who have relatives who died for such a just cause, regardless of from whatever country you may hail.
Prayers and Blessings continue along with a wish for a wonderful day for all.
Morning Todd, yes even we Canadians will remember today, especially the most recent loss of soldiers on peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan.
I think Peter, Paul and Mary said it best:
"Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone,
Long time ago
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?"
I want to join Todd in honoring the memory of those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
Well I made it through a graduation party yesterday, then joined d/h and the kids and d/s's best buddy's birthday/slumber party. This was d/s's first ever slumber party and he survived since I haven't gotten any phone calls. I took home d/d's girlfriend who is d/s's best friends sister and so they both had their first sleepover ever too. They went to bed at 10:30 and woke up at 7:00 a.m. to play with glitter glue, then they played with their dolls for a while. Now they are polishing their fingernails... these girls are very busy.
A little later we'll meet and do a prisoner exchange (I'll trade her daughter for my son and we'll come back home)
Today is most definitely gonna be a laundry day, since I only have 4 days before we head to New Orleans. There's so much to be done!
Hope you all enjoy the last day of the long weekend!

Memorial day is allways a very somber day for me, because I remember the men who served with me in Vietnam and did not come back.
People need to learn how to share this planet without having to kill one another.

Good Morning CruiseMates!!! I am just home from the job and happy to be here. Not too much to do today but housework. After that who knows. I am leaning towards going to one of Lakelands lovely parks to have a picnic. I hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating with family and friends. Don't forget to take a moment to remember those that gave so much for our freedom.

Good morning,
Here’s to all our brothers and sisters past and present who have served unselfishly to keep America safe and to keep us free. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you for your sacrifices and all that you give and gave. Bless these soldiers’ families and keep them in your hearts as well. Hang you flags high and be proud to be an AMERICAN!
Happy Memorial Day to all. Thank you and God Bless.
