Barcelona ?????

planning on the Dave Koz and Friends Smooth Jazz full charter cruise out of Barcelona in Sept 2012..on Brillance of the Seas

putting together a preliminary budget and need my fellow CM's help who have cruised out of Barcelona as to suggestions for places to stay and things to do prior to our cruise...fyi I much prefer a B&B as opposed to a high price hotel, but need suggestions and a good area to be located that is not far from the port of departure but close to all of the good stuff..Brillance departs on a Tuesday so we will probably fly out of New Orleans on the friday before

Find somewhere in the Las Ramblas area to stay. This is the main downtown area in Barcelona. In Las Ramblas, you are walking distance to the best places like good restaurants and the sights to see. It is also close to the port, but I wouldn't walk to the port. Don't fall for the low prices of the airport hotels, they may have lower room rates then in downtown Barcelona, but there is NOTHING to do or see there and they get you with incredibly high prices for food and other amenities because there is no other options for food at the airport hotels except for the hotel. So stay in downtown Barcelona in the Las Ramblas area, the hotel price may be a little higher, but you'll end up saving a bundle on the extras and have lots of options for better food, amenities and save on transportation.
