Default Un-trimming the tree?

Ive talked to so many people who have already taken down their Christmas tree already. I wont be taking mine down until next week sometime. We did however take advantage of all of the snow melting and took down the outside decoration, but only because were expecting more snow.
When do you un-trim your tree??

We are travelling this year, so we did not put a tree. Normally our tree and decorations stay until after jan. 6th.

I try and do it after Three Kings Day (Jan 6th) but never before New Years.

As is my bad habit with most things I don't like doing, I am procrastinating about taking down the tree. I don't even know why I bothered putting it up, nobody even got to see it but us. I hoped it would help bring some Christmas spirit into the house, but it didn't work. Now I'm just too depressed to bother taking it down, but it has to be done before I go back to work next week, so.....sometime this weekend...

We were like you Aerogirl and my husband took down the outside lights because it was so nice today. We live northwest of Chicago. I usually take down the tree after new years and gradually take my snow villages down the following weeks. I always get depressed having to put things away.
This year who knows when my tree and villages will get put away. We will be going out of town and then my mother is having surgery on the 19th of January. I would have liked to take the tree down before we leave but spent time with kids and grandkids instead. That is more important.

How far are you from the city? I'm on the very far NW side of the city right next to Park Ridge.

Default Untrimming the Tree?

Normally, we put up the tree a week before Christmas and take it down New Years Day. This year, we bought the tree Dec. 24, but we'll still take it down New Years Day. I can see needles on the carpet, so it's a fire danger.

We start putting our tree up the day after Thanksgiving and take it down after January 6th....Epiphany or the 12th day of Christmas.

Almost always around New Years, we just finished putting away the tree last nite. OUtside lights a different story, that will be done when the weather permits...

Aerogirl we live way out on the border of Algonquin and Huntley. They call us a northwest suburb but I think that is pushing it.

I know the area. My sister in-law lived in Huntley and we would take the kids to the wild west town in Union.

I have always taken ours down very soon after Christmas. I find that the tree without presents looks sad.

I grew up in a house where the tree stayed up until at least January 8...my dad's (and Elvis'! ) birthday. My mom was a procrastinator about taking it down....and we always had a real tree. I swear there were years that needles would fall if you just looked at the tree.
We've had a fake tree these last few years and I usually take it down on New Years Day but this year I took it down on the 29 since we were traveling for New Years and I didn't want to have to deal with it when we got home.

I'm taking it all down but the tree right now. Just taking a break for some lunch and cruisemates!
Is it time for the Valentines day decor yet?

To me, Christmas isn't over until Little Christmas or as Aerogirl put it the Three Kings Day. So mine will stay up until 1/6/11. My hubby would like to take it down sooner, but this is how I grew up and I like the tradition. We don't have snow here so that is not an issue. :-D

That is the way I grew up as well. Three Kings Day was allways time for a big celebration.
