You are so right, I hardly remember that, but yes, they actually pumped the gas for you and cleaned the windshield and even asked if they could check your oil.

Yep. They've got us thinking that $1.75 per gallon is a terrific bargain now! The lowest price I can ever remember for gasoline, was during a price war, many many years ago. Gasoline actually got down to 9.9 cents per gallon! That's nine point nine cents! You could fill up for $2.00!
Not too long ago, I had an airplane that was certified for "auto gas", and I used to fill up my five gallon cans for less than $10 each. 87 octane aviation fuel was considerably higher, so that was a terrific deal when I wanted to go chase ultralights. (Did I say that?)

I remember those days as well.

The lowest price I ever paid for gas was 17.9 cents.

But for me the best part about the good old days was that I had my youth.

By the way I always get my gas pumped at no extra charge and pay less than most of you.

$3.29 yesterday. NJ has 3rd lowest gas tax in USA.

When I was a kid, lik-m-aids were 10 cents. We could go hog wild at the candy store with a dollar's worth of coins.


When I started drive, gas was 34 cents a litre. It can be as much as 4 times that now.

remember when on a fill up you received a plate and a car wash..today regular is $3.49..I remember when gas was 59 cents a gallon and I could fill up my 63 vw beetle for less then $6.00 and ride for 400 miles on a tank

Gas here in SoCal locally is $4.99/gal. Other areas over $5.

Is this the self serve or full service price? I just spoke with my buddy in Anaheim and he paid 3.90/gal. this morning and hasn't seen anything close to $5/gal................yet.

I can remember paying 19.9 a gallon. Then again, I was making $400.00 a month and I was doing very well! I paid rent, insurance, car payment, etc., and still had enough left to "party" !

My best friend also had a VW bug. Gas was .25 a gallon. We all chipped in to fill it up for the night.

It is 3.39 here today.
