Hee Hee, Haa Haa, Hoo Hoo
To the funny farm,
Where life is beautiful all the time...

And something about men in white coats...and a mangy mutt.

That is one my hubby and I sing to each other a lot when we forget something.

Our getting out of bed in the mornings is "Please Mr. Custer, I don't want to go", anyone remember this one?

Oh my gosh, I remember that vividly...sometime around Gr. 7 I can remember singing it in the schoolyard. For years whenever my mom used to do or say something silly or forgetful, she'd sing it too! I still do!

I'm with venice in that I too recall all of them....and others such as Ahab the Arab, Woolly Bully, and of course Louie, louie, which everyone swore had suggestive lryics.....bit thinking back on these reminded me of another song about recall:
I REMEMBER IT WELL
From "Gigi" (1958)
(Lyrics : Alan Jay Lerner / Frederick Loewe)

Honore (Maurice Chevalier) & Mamita (Hermione Gingold)

H: We met at nine
M: We met at eight
H: I was on time
M: No, you were late
H: Ah, yes, I remember it well
We dined with friends
M: We dined alone
H: A tenor sang
M: A baritone
H: Ah, yes, I remember it well
That dazzling April moon!
M: There was none that night
And the month was June
H: That's right. That's right.
M: It warms my heart to know that you
remember still the way you do
H: Ah, yes, I remember it well

H: How often I've thought of that Friday
M: Monday
H: night when we had our last rendezvous
And somehow I foolishly wondered if you might
By some chance be thinking of it too?
That carriage ride
M: You walked me home
H: You lost a glove
M: I lost a comb
H: Ah, yes, I remember it well
That brilliant sky
M: We had some rain
H: Those Russian songs
M: From sunny Spain
H: You wore a gown of gold
M: I was all in blue
H: Am I getting old?
M: Oh, no, not you
How strong you were
How young and gay
A prince of love
In every way
H: Ah, yes, I remember it well

I never saw Gigi on Broadway, but did see the movie....and I do love this song. Both singers are long gone, but thiers was the definatve version.

GIGI was my favourite movie. I think I need to rend that and watch it with my little girl.

I remember that song. I had the LOONEY TUNES album growing up, and it was on that. Still have the album; though no record player on which to play it!

My favourite song on that album was SHAVING CREAM:

I have a sad story to tell you
It may hurt your feelings a bit
Last night as I walked into my bathroom
I stepped in a big pile of ...
Shaving cream, be nice and clean
Shave every day and you'll always look keen

I think I'll break off with my girlfriend
Her antics are queer, I'll admit
Each time I say, "Darling, I love you"
She tells me that I'm full of ...
Shaving cream, be nice and clean
Shave every day and you'll always look keen

Our baby fell out of the window
You'd think that her head would be split
But good luck was with her that morning
She fell in a barrel of ...
Shaving cream, be nice and clean
Shave every day and you'll always look keen
{ From: SHAVING CREAM Lyrics - BENNY BELL }

My old lady died in a bathtub
She died from a terrible fit
In order to fulfill her wishes
She was buried in six feet of ...
Shaving cream, be nice and clean
Shave every day and you'll always look keen

When I was in France with the army
One day I looked inside my kit
I thought i would find me a sandwich
But the darn thing was loaded with ...
Shaving cream, be nice and clean
Shave every day and you'll always look keen

And now folks my story is ended
I think it is time I should quit
And if anyone of you feel offended
Push your head in a bucket of ...
Shaving cream, be nice and clean
Shave every day and you'll always look keen

HA! Me too, but I wasn't going to admit it until I saw you do it Todd! Yes, I too think "CoCoNuts" was Merv Griffins song. Danny Kaye no doubt did it somewhere along the line, but I think it was Merv's song.

Below, is part of the beginning of what for years was my personal theme song.

Now, what was the title and who recorded it?

"Could have been the whiskey, might have been the gin, could have been the three or four six packs I don't know but look at the shape I'm in!"

Talk about old, I heard Merv Griffin singing "coconuts" with freddie Martin's orchestra at a college dance. I won't tell you when that was.
