I've been reading this incredible book ..The Band That Played On...by Steve Turner which talks about the musicians who played till the very end on the Titanic..the first few chapters talk about the media frenzy that surrounded the survivors when they first arrived in New York on the Carpathia and the absolute media frenzy (including paying eye witnessess cash money at the pier) and the use of the then modern technology (the wireless invented by Marconi, who happen to have a reporter from his St. Louis paper onboard the Carpathia who had an inside advantage to being able to interview the survivors and use the wireless to get the story first which resulted in a special editon of a New York paper less then 4 hours after docking)..it caused me to wonder, based upon what we all witnessed with the media 24/7 frenzy of the Carnival Splendor incident, if the Titanic happened today, how would the media cover it ? what would be the Fox "spin"..what would be MSNBC "spin"..the owners of the Titanic did their best to do damage control by controlling the media...how different then what Carnival Corp did since they had little control of the media...what do you project the postings would be on our own CruiseMate website?
