Had a dodgy day yesterday...woke up & one side of my face was numb & sort of frozen, told the Doc & they called an ambulance so I spent the day in the excellent A&E at Southampton General, suspected stroke, very scary. Turns out I have "Bells Palsy" a facial nerve problem.
Out of interest as this is a US site, what happened was...Doc. closed on Saturday, out of hours service assessed me over the phone & called the ambulance, this arrived within 10 minutes, assessed by paramedics in the vehicle, they decided to take me in, 15 minuted later I had been ''triaged'' & in a booth wired up to monitors, seen by Doc & specialist nurse, bloods done within 30 mins. I was not allowed to eat but if I could have they would have fed me something too....the cost...NOTHING.

I'm glad to hear that it was Bell's Palsy and not a stroke. Bell's isn't a fun thing but much better than a stroke. My sister-in-law lived with it for almost a year before she went back to normal. Hopefully your recovery will be much faster.
It's good to hear that all of the doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers and paramedics work for nothing.
Take care,
Mike

Glad to hear it's just Bell's Palsy. Fran had it some years ago but it just went away on its own about three or four months later.

Thanks all...the only discomfort is a dry eye that need drops, unlike some though who can't close the eye, mine just doesn't "auto blink"..maybe someone removed auto blink at guest services...
