I finished buliding my man what do you think?

Hi all I posted some pictures of the man I was building. I explained his head had to be empty. What I meant was the sculpture has to be hollow in order to fire it. My hubby had the idea to turn him in a really odd and funny cookie jar. So I did. Yup you can fill my man's head with anything you want. Image the possibilities!! I was trying for a weathered look and I used three different under glazes. I used a techinque to write Latin on the back. I'm wondering if anyone knows what that Latin means.

Thank you. I'm thinking for halloween I will fill his head with gummy worms.
He took me about 4 months to bulid. I was worried he would break in the klin, but he survived the fire.:D The picture below is the man I modelled the cookie jar after. This is the first time I tried to make a face that looked like someone. It's not 100% but I did better then I thought I would. Oh and that is me standing next to the gorgeous man my cookie jar was inspired by.

I had a co worker ask me if he was my son. We are less then 9 years apart in age. :( People are mean. Also if I was his mom I would be arrested for the thoughts going on in my head.;)

Nice Kat. Very nice.

No guesses at the Latin on the back. Maybe it's hard to read. The back says Non Timebo Mala.:D

I believe that it means ( not afraid of evil )

Not a clue. He seemed really nice when I met him. But he is an actor (Jensen Ackles) so I don't know him well enough to say one way or another. My hubby was disappointed I don't do a cookie jar of him. But an actor is never going to see it and complain I didn't do it right. My hubby on the other hand would care and complain.

In 1969 an artist in NYC was commissioned to paint a biblical mural in the lobby of a Manhattan office building . She and I knew each other and she wanted me to pose as I had reddish brown hair and beard and she believed that I resembled a prominent biblical figure .I opted not to do it ,possibly an error on my part .

snorklr45 March 14th, 2012 03:46 PM

Henry, yes - I'd say a huge error on your part!!

kat, still loving this photo of you and your "model" for the cookie jar - the actor and "gorgeous guy." He seems very affable.

This is a quick video I took of his smile. I wish I was talented enough to sculpt that smile. Because Damn!!:D

Thank you.:D I was worried after I took the picture that I made a goofy face. Because I have done that in pictures a lot. One cruise every single formal night picture I had a strange look on my face. So I was pretty happy that I had a real smile on my face. :D

Hair is the easiest thing for me to do. Probably because I cut hair for 14 years I know what it should look like. ;)
