"The New Hampshire Primary", starring Tom, Mick and Belgique....Detroit's answer to Peter, Paul and Mary in bars and coffeehouses all over the Motor City!
I cannot believe we weren't famous! |

I like the name! What kind of music did you play? |
An interesting story to relate . Several years ago a guy that I know started a band with some friends . They signed with a small record company and released one album .Most of the songs were covers .They did a great rendition of Almost Cut My Hair .Many reviewers said that it was better than the CSN original .However the rest of the recordings were not up to par .
The group broke up and the guy I know started a new venture ,a music magazine . Today he is Editor and Publisher of the magazine with the highest circulation world wide . |
We were Peter, Paul and Mary wannabes....like every other group, total folkies.
The main bar we played in was in Downtown Detroit and frequented by all political types - Tom was a speech writer for the mayor of Detroit at the time, Roman Gribbs. The '68' or '72 presidential election was coming up and all we heard about was the New Hampshire Primary, so that's what we called ourselves! Good times and great memories! |
How cool! I was in a rock band called 'storm, featuring watershed' and I always hated our name. I like a good band name! My friends band is called 'left of center' and they are trying to think of a new name. I suggested 'kelly rules' but they never listen to me LOL

A one-hit-wonder I remember fondly from the late 60's is "Where Do You Go To My Lovely?" by Peter Sarsdedt. A catchy melody, and an intriguing story - always loved that song!
