Default Bruce will soon be in hospital

Many of you who read our chit chat pages know, that Bruce & I were disembarked off the Epic in March. Before leaving the ship, they stopped & restarted Bruce's heart, and they did that again, once he was in the hospital. He had a heart rate of 177,and pneumonia, our Epic Dr. confirmed

While he was in the hospital in St Thomas, they did a battery of tests, and Bruce got wonderful care. We left the hospital 4 days later, and were repatriated home, and then began a round of Drs, visits.

One thing that didn't come home with us, was the diagnosis of a mass in Bruce's kidney, this was called, an incidental finding. We don't know why they chose to let our Drs. at home, break the news to us.

So, in a few weeks, Bruce will be having his kidney removed. The prognosis is good, and if he has his way, he will be back at work sooner, than later.

With all that went on with, "this cruise, that wasn't", there were angels along the way, and we count our blessings. Having Linda Griggs by our side was our first angel. She is one of the kindest & giving souls, I have ever met..If you ever do a Cruisemate Cruise with her, you will know why I say that. To know her, is to love her.

Having purchased a special repatriation plan from On Call Int'l was a stroke of luck, and they became our angels as well. Curb to curb, from the Caribbean, to Boston, they made the stressful flight home a bit easier Cristy, Bruce's nurse was our angel onboard...

Finally, the fact that this was found at all, is amazing. Getting disembarked, had a silver lining afterall, and, for that, I am forever greatful. The NCL staff was great, even though they wanted us off pronto, so they could leave the pier,as soon, as they rolled Bruce off..

So, I am counting on you, all my Cruisemate pals, to think good thoughts for Bruce...Looking back at our blessings along this road...we hope we get another one soon....xo

Positive thoughts and prayers go out to Bruce, you, your family and of course the doctors performing the surgery! I agree that you've had wonderful angels along the way! When he has a clean bill of health......a real cruise is in order! :-)

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I was lucky that I only had a very small portion of my kidney removed with a benign tumour. Two days in ICU and three more in hospital and I was on my way home. You and Bruce should be cruising in no time.

Wow. that's quite the story, I never realized just how serious it all was. You have had "angels" to look out for you both all through this, and now it's time for your CM "angels" to take over and help Bruce and you get through this last hurdle. Thoughts and prayers are with you both, (((HUGS))).

I as others have said "I wish Bruce a speedy recovery from the procedure.

As you know we have two of those and we can get along with only one.

Our good friends from Ottawa, Chuck and Mary have gone through the same thing. Mary has had one kidney removed and she is doing fine. So know Bruce will get along fine.

To say, I appreciate all your kind words for us, is an understatement. The connection we make here at Crusiemates, with people across the miles, is strong, and when the time comes, and you need a hug,and a prayer, or just an ear to vent, you know you will get support, and a hug back. I so appreciate all of you.

I so hope and pray that Bruce does as well if not better than expected. I have, of course, added Bruce to my nightly prayer list.

I know in my heart he'll be quickly healed as he is a wonderful man, an excellent husband and an unparalleled father and although I only was able to talk with him once during your shortened cruise, I feel as if I know him well through this wonderful forum where we share our successes, our losses, our complaints and our reasoning.

Gob Bless you both!

With Much Love,

TDH
