1962, from Detroit via Memphis, enroute to Greenville Air Force Base in Mississippi to get married! He was already there. Remember getting off the plane in Mississippi in July and the heat hit me like a ton of bricks. I remember saying, "How can anyone LIVE here?".
Years later, Iceland Air had cheap flights to Europe which I took often. Landing for a stopover in Iceland one November, remember saying, "How can anyone LIVE here?".
Does anyone remember Braniff airlines? I was an infant when I begin flying, but the first flight I remember was with Braniff from TX to MN in the summer of 1976. We then took a bus from Minneapolis to Fargo, ND and family picked us up for the 1 1/2 hour drive to the family farm. GREAT SUMMER!
Braniff was a wonderful airline, so wonderful that they put themselves out of business. Their motto was "Flying Colors," and each airplane was painted in a different, vibrant hue. Turned out that the brighter the color, the heavier the pigments in the paint. Their bright "Flying Colors" cost them a fortune to hump around the sky. So did their seats, which they insisted be all leather, both in first class and coach.
A very nice airline, but a bit too clever for their own good.
The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place. -- George Bernard Shaw
There is a "Super G Constellation" sitting on the tarmac over at the "Fantasy of Flight" attraction, just a few miles from Lakeland, Florida.
I sleep very well on flights,,,,,but,,,,,I'm usually the pilot.
