Default Saturday and Sleepless

Morning Mates, I could have started this morning thread around 1 a.m., or 2, or 3, or 4, as I was awake all night. Finally gave up and got up around 7. Sheesh, I hate it when that happens...
I will have to wake up by this afternoon because I have the afternoon shift at Ship Hector, followed by dinner, then trivia night out.
Tomorrow we are going to see some more dogs, puppies this time. Maybe, just maybe, this might be the right one, wish us luck!

Good morning everyone:

Betty is upstairs finishing her shower. I just washed up the breakfast dishes. I made my grandson gluten free pancakes, egg and bacon. He loved it. When Betty is ready we are off to Sears to pick up a new grass trimmer. Can life get any more exciting???????!!!!

I bought a new grass trimmer in May and it jammed up when my nephew was using it while we were in Europe. The pull start mechanism broke. I took it in two weeks ago and they called yesterday to tell me that they no longer have the parts required to fix it. Huh????? It's just over three months old. Well, I now go to the Sears and they will give me a new trimmer.

This cements my theory about Sears and Craftsman products. I used to love Craftsman but with my experiences in the last six years with their garden tractors, power tools, lawn sweepers and grass trimmers I know that their quality has gone down the old crapper. It's sad to see this happen.

Also, our son is with us for a few days. He hasn't been feeling well and it has been discovered that his new apartment has a mold problem and that's why he's been sick. They are ripping out the walls and having it taken care of. It will take at least a month to rectify it. They will set him up in another apartment and building until his is fixed but the new apartment won't be ready until Monday. The temporary apartment is gorgeous and huge. Three bedrooms and 1700 sq. ft. It rents for $2400/month so the people who own the apartments are losing a lot of revenue on his mold problem. They may lose more because he is probably going to litigate for his medical expenses and the head of maintenance said that they had a mold problem in the apartment above his last year and didn't check the apartment below. oh oh.

OK: The boss is ready so off to Sears we go.

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend.

Take care,
Mike

Good morning. Wonder of wonders: Keith didn't go to Riverside today. It's nice to have him home. We have no particular plans, though. If we do anything. we'll go somewhere where it's well under 100!

Good Morning from the Arizona desert where the Monsoon left us 2-1/2" of rain in Mesa yesterday!! Considering that our normal ANNUAL rainfall is less than 8", that qualifies as a gully washer! ! We have the possiblity of more rain today and tomorrow. Bring it on! We certainly need it.

This weekend is cruise preparation weekend. Yay! We leave Thursday for California. We're going to spend Thursday mostly driving, Friday sightseeing in Santa Barbara, Saturday driving from Santa Barbara on down to LA and Manhattan Beach, where we have a favorite place to stay and favorite restaurants to eat at.

Then Sunday we board the Carnival Splendor for our 4th annual Splendor Mexican Riviera cruise. Not the most exciting itinerary to do over and over, but since the economy went to H-E-Double Hockey Sticks and my income has been severely curtailed, along with the huge increase in air fares, we just haven't felt we could spend the money to fly to Florida for the Caribbean or some other east coast port for a different itinerary. So we will happily board the Splendor one more time and have the time of our lives!

I hope all you Cruise Mates have a wonderful weekend!

My better half and I planned a trip today to a beautiful part of NY that we have not been to since 1998 .At 9AM when we were ready to leave the sky was dark as night and instead we drove to a mall .

It has been sunny and beautiful here the past 3 hours . We are ,however ,going to dinner with friends this evening.

Good evening fellow cruisemates from Virginia Beach. Rob and I just got back from dinner; we went to a local Italian restaurant. Today was quiet; I hit a few garage sales in the morning and started going through my closet in the afternoon. It's so hard to part with things; I am a hoarder to a moderate degree; mostly clothing, shoes, and chatchkas (for the uniformed, knick knacks). Are any of my fellow cruisemates hoarders?

Had a very quiet Saturday, going over to Verizon just as the store opened to have my cell phone fixed. I'd lost the back and the battery wouldn't remain in it. She taped in the battery, ordered a new back and will install it for me when it arrives (it's being mailed directly to me).

Other than that, I've spend a lot of the day asleep. Guess I've been pressing a bit too hard not to mention all of the medication I currently have to take. But it's been a "yucky" day (overcast) so I didn't miss anything. Did manage to also make it to the grocery. My God, when bread is well over two bucks a loaf and hamburger is almost three bucks a pound, something ain't right. Don't know what it is but whatever, it ain't good!

Glad you were able to make a great breakfast for your grandson as your gluten free ingredients are limited however I have a friend with the same problem and he says there are an increasing number of products coming out all the time that make it easier. I certainly hope so. I think they realized more folks suffer from that malady than they originally thought and the food industry has taken note.

You're right about Sears, Mike and I remember when they were the gold standard. Ah well....................

Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the weekend and for those going out for the evening in DC or Manhattan, look out for those tornadoes!!
