Former NYC Mayor ,the Honorable Ed Koch passed away today at 2AM . He was ,in my opinion ,the greatest Mayor in my lifetime and will be missed by New Yorkers and others .
Not qualities you find very often in politics these days.
This was a guy you could disagree with here and there and still appreciate him.

During his administration there was suspicion of him being into "hanky panky" .A cousin of mine was the lead investigator and after a period of 3 months found no basis for any wrong doing .
Mayor Koch was mayor during the time I worked at NYPD, and he was respected by all of us. He did a GREAT job of turning the city around, at a time when many of us thought it was almost, a losing cause. RIP Mayor Koch!
The New York Times is compiling people's memories of great Ed Koch comeback lines. I'd heard this one before, but forgotten it. . .
Hizzoner was asked to explain something that he'd already covered numerous times. His retort:
I can explain it to you again, but I can't comprehend it for you.
Thanks Mayor, that was a mitzvah. Maybe I should post it in open debate.
I've often thought that it would be fun to see Koch and Barney Frank in some sort of battle of wits. I'd have bought a ticket and stood in line for that.
Too bad he didn't live longer. . .he could have become a Scoutmaster.
