This will be my first cruise experience and Im going with my parents (lucky me!). Im 20 years old and in Canada the drinking age is 19 so Im used to having all the freedom in the world. Are they strict about drinking??? Are there people at least close to my age on these cruises or should I expect to just be relaxing rather then partying for a week?
They are not strict about drinking on the ship. You are in international waters and cruising "Italian Style." We allowed my teenager to have a small portion of wine with her dinner on some nights and the wait staff did not object. I also noticed other teens drinking quite a bit of beer at some meals -- ordering directly from the bar waitress.
thanks so much for responding, my parents dont really care if i drink, like i said, the drinking age here is 19, I was more concerned about when I was without them at the clubs and such.
Im really looking forward to this cruise despite all of the negative things ive read. Im a true believer that if you want to have a good time, you will. You can always look for things to go wrong, but why bother, your on vacation, relax and enjoy!!
I am not your honey and I don't think that it is anything to joke about. You keep bringing that up and people keep telling you about the Captain's family.
Tootsie, I suggest you get out more. I was joking. However, I am not joking about the Captains girlfriend, or wife. Looked a little improper to me. And who is the we, that keep telling me sweetheart,
Re: Re: Re: Anybody in there 20s on these cruises?
The passengers who sailed on the same date that you did. They have written to this message board also telling you about the Captain and his wife and daughter..
Wow, I didnt mean to start such a comotion. You people need lives, who the hell cares about this captain or what he said she said on a cruse months ago. BIG PICTURE PEOPLE!!!
I am 19 too and I will be sailing on the Med. on March 15. When do you cruise and if it's before me would you tell me the scope on the 20's situation? Thanks!
Drinking is not allowed by guests under the age of 21 on a Costa cruise. This applies even if someone turns 21 on the cruise -- if you start the cruise at age 20, you cannot drink the entire cruise even if your birthday is during the cruise. So don't plan on drinking on the cruise except in the ports of call in Mexico.
Also, I noticed that most of the guests tended to be 60+ plus a minority of families with small children. My husband and I are in our mid 30s, and we did not find many peers on the ship. I think you are going to be sorely disappointed.
Frances:
You will have a ball! We have been cruising with Costa five times now and plan on going again in the fall. We have a granddaughter, 29 years old, who loves to party and I know she would have a great time. Lots of dancing, lots of parties for the younger people. The young social hosts, your age, will get you involved with the nightlife. So don't worry.

I have to tell you.. Costa is awsome!!! i just got back a few weeks ago.. I'm only twenty, there are a lot of older people, but some of them stilll know how to get down... It really was the best trip I have ever been on.. Drinking isnt a problem. I was worried too. Plan on having a good time, Amazing food, Great Service, Dancing, Beautiful people, and Good Company..
I'm 24 and went with my 22 year old boyfriend, my 19 year old brother and the rest of my family....we all had a blast! Kylle my younger 19 year old brother did not have any problem at all getteing served drinks or being in the casino, and the age was meant to be 21 as we were in american waters etc.
You'll love it...we did and the toga night is a really great night!
Frances, it depends on the cruise itinerary and date. This being the spring break season, cruises in the next month or so will be filled with young folks (lots of children, teenages, and 20-ish). Predominantly though, must cruises are 30+ somethings and up due to the expense and the amount of vacation folks have.
BTW: You don't need alcohol to have a good time! It's all about attitude.
Im 20 and have been on many different cruises with different cruise lines. Ofcourse the age limit to drink over here in England is 18 and so we do not have a problem. The british ships seem to have a lot more people our age while costa seems to be a older generation! Im taking my boyfriend for his first cruise on the Mediterranea with my family and he is a little worried it is just going to be older foke! But like a few other people have said it's what you make of it. So hopefully we will have a great holiday!
HEY BUDDY.....I'M FROM TORONTO.....I WENT WITH MY GIRLFRIEND SHE'S 25 AND I'M 27.....WE FOUND A FEW YOUNG COUPLES.....BUT NOT TOO MANY SINGLES RUNNING AROUND.....MAINLY OLD GREY HAIRS.........YOU'LL BE RELAXING.....NOT PARTYING!
HAVE FUN........
HEY EVERYONE JUST GOT OFF THE COST MAGICA JUST FOR THE RECORD, I AM 19 IT SAYS IN BROCHURE 21 BUT WHEN YOU GET ON THE BOAT I FOUND THAT THE SHIP DRINKING AGE IS 18 THEY INFORCE THE DRINKING AGE BUT IT IS 18 SOME OF YOU TALKING THIS 21 YEAR OLD **** MUST NOT HAVE BEEN ON THE SAME CRUISE LINE. THE BULTER WAS GREAT, THE FOOD WASNT BAD BUT THEY NEED TO WORK ON THE MEAT QUALITY BUT I AM PARTICULAR THATS BASICALLY THE ONLY BAD THING I COULD SAY
