Cruise ship Nursing Q&A
Hello! I am a virgin cruiser (planning our dream vacation now, please see my other forum in first-time cruisers section to offer advice and experiences) and student Nurse on my way to an RN license and eventually Master's degree. I was hoping crewmates, cruisers, and nurse's reading this could offer some advice about cruise ship Nursing. Upon starting my education I was shocked to learn how many fields of Nursing are available! I think it is probably one of the largest fields of work in existence! I had to do a project in my first Nursing class and was assigned to cruise ship Nursing and what I learned has never left me. But I never got to talk to anyone with real experience in this particular Nursing field or who works for a cruise line. What is it like to work for a cruise-line? Are they family friendly employers? Do they have any kind of options available for employees with kids? What is your favorite/least favorite part about working for a cruise line? What cruise line is (in your opinion) is the best employer? What kind of issues do you see in the infirmary? Please feel free to talk about anything related to working on a cruise line, especially if you are in the medical field. The job sounds fun and exciting, but so does being a lion tamer and I'm not partial to be eaten lol. Thanks so much!
