Default Specialty Restaurants

The boards have been quiet all morning, so here's a new post. We are headed out for our first cruise in over 20 years on Royal Caribbean's Serenade on April 1st. How do you choose what night to reserve for the specialty restaurants? I know we don't want to eat there on formal nights, but do you receive a preview menu for the week to help you decide. If it's liver & onions night at Reflections, that's the night we book Chops.

On RCI I'd ask your waiter or Head Waiter which night "Italian Night" is scheduled for. That's probably their weakest menu that evening... and a good night to try chops.

We went to Portofino's on Carribean Night. The food and the service was excellent. I would definitely go back, looking forward to it!! One thing, they charge extra for espresso and cappuccino. They also offered a choice of bottled water, also extra. I'll know better next time!!
